Recap / Scooby Doo And Guess Who S 2 E 25 Scooby Doo Dog Wonder

Go To

While solving a mystery about a Medusa Monster for vase collector Timothy Smallbottoms, the gang run into crime-fighters Blue Falcon and Dynomutt, Dog Wonder. Superfan Velma is ecstatic, until Blue Falcon suggests they leave the case to him so they don't get hurt. However, when Blue Falcon ends up abducted and turned to stone, the gang must help Dynomutt get to the bottom of the mystery.

This episode includes examples of the following tropes:

  • Big "NO!": After Blue Falcon is abducted, and again after finding his statue, Dynomutt howls, "Noooo!" as long as he has the breath...and then takes a breath so he can continue howling.
  • Episode Tagline: Given that Dynomutt and Scooby Doo don't drive the Falcon-car very well, multiple crashes occur. Fred develops a habit of commenting that at least the door is open.
  • Hand Gagging: After Mr. Smallbottoms is unmasked as the monster, Velma realizes that if Radley Crowne wasn't the monster, he must be the Blue Falcon. Thankfully, Dynomutt shoves a paw over her mouth before she can voice her realization to all and sundry (including the villain of the week).
  • Insistent Terminology: While Velma is moping about Blue Falcon thinking they're a bunch of kids, Fred says that they're not kids; they're "mystery solving teens."
  • The Knights Who Say "Squee!": Velma is extremely gleeful to meet the Blue Falcon, who she describes as one of her favorite crimefighters. She gushes that she's followed all his exploits and immediately pulls out her collection of trading cards. When Blue Falcon calls them nice kids and suggests they steer clear of the monster so they don't get hurt, she's very disappointed that her hero doesn't see them as capable co-crimefighters.
  • No One Gets Left Behind: When the group are escaping the Medusa Monster, Dynomutt grabs Blue Falcon's statue to take it with him. However, he needs Scooby's help to carry it.
  • Taken for Granite: Given that the villain of the week is based on Medusa, it's not surprising that people get (apparently) turned to stone during the mystery. Equally unsurprisingly, nobody actually gets turned to stone.
