Go To

While the gang is enjoying a baseball game, courtesy of an unknown benefactor, they see rap star Macklemore get attacked by a bull monster when he tries to throw the ceremonial first pitch. The celebrity is happy to have their help, being one of their biggest fans, and so the group is off on another mystery.

This episode includes examples of the following tropes:

  • Anonymous Benefactor: As the episode opens, we find out that the gang is attending the game because a mystery person sent them free tickets and nacho vouchers. It turns out later that Macklemore sent them.
  • Creepy Mascot Suit: The Monster of the Week is supposedly the ghost/zombie of a former player wearing the Seattle Jaguars' mascot suit (which for some strange reason is a bull, not a jaguar).
  • Disappointed by the Motive: The gang is weirded out by Macklemore causing all kinds of trouble and property damage just so he'd have a chance to give the You Meddling Kids speech, though they ultimately agree with him.
  • Chekhov's Gun: Macklemore has a huge number of calf exercise machines. This enabled him to hold onto something below the mound with his feet, giving the illusion of the bull monster having a very strong hold.
  • Foreshadowing: Macklemore's Dissonant Serenity after the bull monster utterly destroys his mansion makes sense in light of the revelation that he staged the whole case.
  • A Handful for an Eye: Fred makes the bull monster let go of Macklemore by throwing chalk dust in its face.
  • Heartbreak and Ice Cream: When Macklemore tucks into a pizza soon after his house falls down, Fred thinks it's weird. Shaggy and Scooby say that the guy is in mourning for his house and pizza helps in all kinds of situations.
  • Loony Fan: Macklemore is a Fan Boy of the gang's. Ultimately, it’s revealed that he set up an elaborate monster hoax, complete with blowing up his house, just because he always wanted to say the meddling kids line.
  • Murder Into Malevolence: The backstory for the costume goes that the Seattle Jaguars' mascot was beaned by a seeming home-run ball, knocking it into the hands of the rival team. The angry fans chased the innocent mascot into the tunnels, only stopping when an earthquake caved in the ceiling on top of him. Now the mascot haunts the costume, and he causes massive property damage trying to get Macklemore.
  • My Instincts Are Showing: The bipedal bull monster paws the ground before charging.
  • Skewed Priorities: Macklemore stops running for a moment when the monster whacks his calf machines.
  • Two Dun It: Both Macklemore and Macklemore's butler Bevins wear the monster suit.
  • Warning Mistaken for Threat: The umpire says he got fired for saying the stadium would go down in flames and comments ominously that he'll show everyone. Daphne comments that they have the first suspect. However, the umpire wasn't behind the bull monster. When the trap accidentally breaks some gas lines and lights, resulting in an explosion, the umpire says that he told his bosses to have those gas lines fixed.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: The gang and Macklemore go to a baseball collectible store run by an old man. After a while, the monster seemingly gets the old man and soon enough, the store gets blown up. It's never revealed what happened to the old store owner and whether or not he even survived the explosion.
  • Worth It: Macklemore considers all the trouble and property damage involved in the plan worth it so that he can fulfill his childhood dream of saying the "meddling kids" line.
