(CWi Episode: "A New Nightmare")

The Amazoness Quartet, a group of magical pro-adolescence girls, take over the hunt for Pegasus. And they start by going after Momoko, Chibi-Usa's friend, during a public performance by the Dead Moon Circus.

Tropes in this episode include:

  • Bad Samaritan: VesVes gives a bunch of tickets to Momoko to lure her and her friends to a Dead Moon performance. This was done so she and the Amazoness Quartet could attack her for her Dream Mirror.
  • Big "SHUT UP!": Zirconia says this twice. First to the Lemures Court after hearing their Madness Mantra and second to the Quartet for not showing her respect.
  • Book Ends: The episode starts and ends with Zirconia conversing with Queen Nehelenia about the Amazoness Quartet.
  • Breaking Old Trends: This is the first episode not to feature Usagi's opening narration.
  • Call-Back: The Quartet's Lemureses are ordered to consume the target's Dream Mirror, just like how Mimete's Daimons swallowed people's Pure Hearts.
  • Charm Person: While performing on an acrobatic swing, CereCere hypnotizes Momoko into leaving the circus using Petal Power so she can have her Dream Mirror extracted.
  • Cold Open: The story begins with Queen Nehelenia providing more information about Pegasus' holder to Zirconia.
  • Comically Missing the Point: After CereCere states that she's delighted to meet the Sailor Guardians, the PallaPalla states that she isn't happy at all.
    CereCere: It's called sarcasm, dear.
  • Contrasting Replacement Character: The Quartet to the Trio. While the Trio consisted of older men who were obedient to Madame Zirconia, the Quartet consist of little girls who openly badmouth Zirconia and aren't afraid to push her buttons. Also, while the Trio use an elaborate but traumatizing method of searching through people's dreams, the Quartet girls only need to use their balls to knock out the Dream Mirrors from a victim's body.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: A young boy Lemures exclaims to have figured it out.
  • Gold-Colored Superiority: Queen Nehelenia states that the holder of Pegasus will have a golden mirror instead of a pink one.
  • Growing Up Sucks: The Amazoness Quartet detest the idea of growing up because of how restrictive and boring it is to be an adult whereas children are allowed to have fun and do as they please.
  • Hidden in Plain Sight: Thanks to their circus theme, the Lemures of the Dead Moon are able to pass themselves off as harmless entertainers to the Juuban public.
  • In-Series Nickname: Courtesy of JunJun, the girls decide to call their boss Granny Zirconia.
  • Internal Reveal: The Sailor Guardians are introduced to the Amazoness Quartet.
  • Running Gag: The "PallaPalla Hates X" gag starts with:
PallaPalla: PallaPalla hates being bossed around!
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: For reasons unclear, Nehelenia is trapped behind a giant mirror.
  • Snake People: VesVes summons Garagara Girl, a Dream Eating Serpent Lemures who looks like a pale skinned girl with a giant red snake body.
  • The Starscream:
    • Just to show how they aren't afraid of her, VesVes tries to attack Zirconia so she can take over the circus. While Zirconia manages to overpower her, she thinks to herself how strong VesVes was and how she'd be in serious trouble if all four of them decided to attack her at once.
    • Later on, the Quartet talk with each other about keeping Pegasus to themselves rather then handing him over to Zirconia.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: After their first failed mission, the Quartet talk among each other about how their new Pegasus mission is going to be exhausting and boring.
  • Villain Opening Scene: The first scene features Zirconia talking to her beloved queen about their Pegasus hunting mission.
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: Zirconia has this reaction after hearing CereCere declare that they don't have to listen to her orders.
