Usagi: Did you hear that Artemis is having an affair?
Chibi-Usa: Yeah! I heard! With a beautiful nun!
Usagi: I heard it was with a really cute cat!
Both: Oh poor Luna!
Usagi: How dare he go flirting with other women!
Chibi-Usa: And toying with her feelings!
Both: Artemis!
Usagi: You only get one girlfriend!
Both: Make up your mind!

(CWi Episode: "Much Ado About Kitten")

Artemis ends up in the doghouse after he's caught making goo-goo eyes at a local nun. But things get even worse for him when a talking tiny kitten shows up claiming to be his daughter.

Tropes in this episode include:

  • Adaptational Context Change:
    • The religious elements centering around the nun and her church are heavily downplayed in the Cloverway Dub. Ex. Her reciting the "Our Father" prayer is replaced with her wishing out loud for harmony and a choir free of sore throats.
    • In the original, Usagi had no idea about Artemis' having a kid and only learned about it from Rei and Makoto. In Cloverway, Serena knew about it from Darien and went on to call Mina about it.
  • Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: As bitter as she is about Artemis' presumed affairs, Luna still goes out of her way to rescue him from the clutches of Kigurumiko.
  • Bad Future: Played for Laughs. Chibi-usa warns her daddy that if she doesn't get good grades from his tutoring, then she'll be an outcast who never gets married and spends her twilight years watching Sailor Moon cartoons.
  • Boxing Kangaroo: The Costumed Lemure Kigurumiko wears a pink kangaroo costume and fights like one throughout her screentime.
  • Birds of a Feather: At the end, Artemis and Mamoru note that they’re now both dealing with their future wives and daughters in their lives.
  • Burning with Anger: Luna does this after seeing a tiny kitten affectionally refer to Artemis as her father.
  • Call-Back: Diana appears in the same dock area that Chibi-usa first appeared on.
  • Dub-Induced Plotline Change:
    • In Cloverway, Mina is upset over Artemis lying to her and declares that she can't trust him anymore. In the original and Viz, Minako is furious over Artemis being a deadbeat dad and tells him to face his responsibilities.
    • In the original, Chibi Moon instantly recognized Diana upon seeing her with the others. But in Cloverway, Mini Moon's reaction suggests that it was her first time meeting her.
  • "Everybody Laughs" Ending: The Inner Girls do this after Mamoru gets in hot water with his family over offering Artemis to go out for some drinks.
  • Failed Attempt at Drama: Sailor Venus appears before Tiger's Eye but ruins her entrance using a butchered English proverb about cats and mice.
  • Fighting Your Friend: Kigurumiko captures Artemis into her pouch to give her a significant power boost. And the Sailor Guardians can't attack her without also harming the cat.
  • Food as Bribe: In the Cloverway Dub, Lita and Raye offer a variety of snacks to Luna as part of a complicated plan to get her to go back with Artemis so they can learn more about the strange adorable kitten.
  • Foregone Conclusion: Diana's existence gives away the fact that Luna and Artemis will marry in the future.
  • Foreshadowing: Tiny Kitten can be heard first appearing in the same lake that Chibi-usa appeared when she first traveled through time.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: Chibi-usa imagines her old cat lady self watching Sailor Moon on the television.
  • I Need a Freaking Drink: The episode ends with Mamoru offering to take Artemis out drinking to commiserate their newfound similar situations.
  • Jesus Taboo: Downplayed in the Cloverway dub as much as possible, with the building explicitly being a chapel, and Tiger’s Eye making a “habit” pun concerning the nun.
  • Karma Houdini: None of the girls apologize to Artemis or accept their accountability in jumping to the conclusion that he was having an affar and refusing to listen to him. They all continue to insist that they as girls are never wrong.
  • Kick the Dog: After hearing her daughter "fearing" for her future, Usagi comments that no one would even try to marry her.
  • Kid from the Future: Diana is revealed to be Luna and Artemis' daughter from the future and was given permission by Neo Queen Serenity to visit the savage ages.
  • Mistaken for Cheating: The plot revolves around everyone accusing Artemis of being unfaithful to Luna due to him looking at other women along with having a secret child.
  • Mistaken for Romance: During the study session, Luna spills the tea about Artemis falling in love with a nun which the Tsukino-Chiba family congratulate him for.
  • Not Helping Your Case:
    • Upon seeing Minako visibly upset with him, Artemis confesses to committing a variety of minor offenses he did without her knowing (stealing her last piece of pie, breaking her favorite mug while stealing her piece of pie, using her favorite sweater as a toilet). None of which supports his case when Minako accuses him of having a secret child.
    • While Rei comforts Luna saying that there are plenty of (cat)fish in the sea, Ami wonders how many of them can talk like her.
  • Poor Communication Kills: Had Diana simply called Luna her mother or at least made an effort to recognize her like she did with Artemis, then Artemis wouldn't have been accused of being a shameless floozy. But then again, why ruin the plot?
  • Saying Too Much: Mamoru ends up calling the nun at Juuban Church a beauty which earns disapproval from his wife and daughter.
  • Serious Business: In the Cloverway dub, Artemis seemingly crushing on a human woman and having a daughter with a cat other than Luna causes her to compare him to Benedict Arnold.
  • Token Religious Teammate: True to her Shinto beliefs, Sailor Mars comments that the Catholic church is something of a rival to the shrine during her team's In the Name of the Moon speech. In the Viz Dub, she says that it's not her preferred place to get married.
  • Tough Love: Usagi defends her picking on her daughter as "tough love" and tells her to get used to it.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Both Usagi and Chibi-usa openly comment on how Artemis genuinely loves Luna and would be hurt by her teasing her. This leads her to go after him but ends up infuriated after seeing that he has a daughter.
  • Yank the Dog's Chain: While cornering the nun, Tiger's Eye pretends to be effected by her using her cross necklace for protection.
  • You Called Me "X"; It Must Be Serious: Mamoru is briefly shocked to hear Chibi-usa call him "daddy" after he threatens to leave the study session.
