Recap / SMG4 - The Mario Hustle

Go To

Mario and friends try to earn money and save SMG4 from becoming a hobo. Each of their methods are... creative.

SMG4 gets scammed into buying a million rocks, and desperate to avoid becoming a hobo, tasks Mario and friends with somehow getting people to buy the excess rocks.

This blooper contains examples of:

  • Agony of the Feet: The result of Meggy attempting to use a rock as a soccer ball.
  • Batman Gambit: Happens a few times for characters to sell rocks easily.
    • Saiko tricks SMG3 into buying 2 million rocks by revealing to him that SMG4 bought 1 million, knowing that SMG3 would try to one-up him.
    • Mario has trouble selling his rocks, so he puts Frankie on top of a building with some speakers, then sells throwing rocks to the angry crowd that amasses.
  • Driven to Suicide: Heavy is so bored by Bowser's initial rock sales pitch that he holds a gun to his head while proclaiming that it's a good day to die.
  • Hidden Depths: While they're all idiots and somewhat psychotic, this episode reveals the gang are all pretty good salesmen.
  • Idiot Ball: SMG4 getting scammed into buying a million useless rocks is the sort of thing you'd expect from Mario, who understandably calls him a "dumbass motherfucker".
  • Nap-Inducing Speak: Scout is so bored by Bowser's rock sales pitch that he falls asleep.
  • Only in It for the Money: SMG4 wants to sell the rocks fast to get back his money, and this is also why the gang helps him.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: SMG4 pulls one when the gang demands payment for helping sell the rocks. He doesn't get far.
  • Snake Oil Salesman:
    • Wario and Waluigi scammed SMG4 into buying a million rocks in the first place by claiming that they could make his videos funnier by rubbing them on his computer.
    • Bob advertises his rocks as being magical and able to cure any and all ailments. When a passing handicapped customer calls out his bluff, he calls for the gods to cure their cancer to prove the rocks work. The customer then stands up, only to immediately fall over and die.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: After Bob convinces Wheelchair Koopa his rocks are magic, the latter uses the rocks on his legs and he tries to stand, only to fall forward and smash his face into the pavement.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Luigi tries to advertise the rocks as new rock flavoured ice cream. When his customers aren't fooled, he's so committed to proving he's telling the truth to them that he eats the "ice cream" himself and starts choking on it.
