Toadsworth launches Mario into space with a cannon to avoid having to bring him along to his and Peach's vacation. Mario, meanwhile, ends up on the Comet Observatory and has to figure out how to get back home.
- Big Damn Heroes: Parodied. Captain Steve comes to save everyone only to be instantly get sucked into the black hole.
- Chekhov's Gun: Bowser's satellite ends up helping delay everyone's imminent doom of being sucked into a black hole.
- Deus ex Machina: Bowser's satellite happens to come into range at a crucial moment when Mario accidentally creates a black hole. Bowser contacts SMG3 and tricks him into causing the satellite to plug the black hole, buying everyone time to prepare to escape.
- Driven to Suicide: Subverted. Mario attempts to kill himself after learning Rosalina didn't know what spaghetti was. However, due to his respawn mechanic, he keeps coming back to life as his dead bodies accumulate on the bottom floor. Eventually, the Lumas interrupt Mario's last suicide attempt to avoid having to keep cleaning up.
- Faux Horrific: Mario would've been fine with living in space for the rest of his life if Rosalina knew what spaghetti was.
- Harmless Villain: Mario points out to Rosalina that Bowser's this when Bowser ends up crash landing into the core. Bowser then claims otherwise by stating that he kidnapped a princess... for two minutes.
- Laser-Guided Karma: After Toadsworth launched Mario into space to avoid having to deal with him, Mario manages to crash land on the exact location where he and Peach were staying in their vacation. Mario immediately asks whose idea it was to trick him into going in the cannon, which Peach immediately points out that it was Toadsworth, ending with Mario burning Toadsworth's head in a fireplace.
- No-Sell: When the Lumas arrive to punish Bowser for accidentally wrecking the observatory's core, they only succeed in making his back feel itchy.
- Puff of Logic: Mario passes out as soon as he remembers that you're not supposed to be able to breathe in space.
- Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Toadsworth launching Mario to space to avoid having to bring him to his vacation almost resulted in everyone on an entire space station getting killed by a black hole. Luckily, the worst thing that happened was that the Comet Observatory was totaled, but everyone on it survived.
