After Reki loses against the skater Shadow at S, a new transfer student from Canada named Langa shows up at his school and Reki decides to try and get the transfer student interested in skating.
Tropes:
- Achievements in Ignorance: While he was unused to skating without taping his feet on so it would be similar to a snowboard, Langa manages to beat Shadow in his first race and catch the eye of the S community.
- Dull Surprise: Throughout most of Langa's interactions with Reki, he doesn't emote one bit besides the first time he slipped when trying to get on Reki's skateboard and when the red-head ollied over him. Other than that when Reki tries to pump him up about "S" Langa is either indifferent, slightly annoyed or sleepy.
- Epic Fail: Langa attempting to ride a skateboard for the first time leads him to falling onto his back, which Reki laughs over. The second time is when he straps his feet to the skateboard and his race starts, he's still at the starting line since he can't use his feet to push. He ends up going forward by scooting the board with his hands.
- Establishing Character Moment: While Reki may not be as talented as most of the other big skaters of S, despite him nearly tripping after performing an ollie, he's still stoked about skating because it makes him happy.
- The Faceless: Adam's face is not shown in the episode, but his backside and fang-like teeth are.
- Fish out of Water: Langa doesn't speak much, and is a bit unused to Japan's culture.
- Honor Before Reason: Reki challenges Shadow to a beef because the other had dissed his skating skills. Reki doesn't seem to recall how dirty Shadow plays which lead him to getting a broken arm and his skateboard being burnt as his punishment for losing.
- I Just Want to Have Friends: Likely the reason why Reki even sought out Langa because all of his other classmates showed disinterest for his love of skateboarding.
- Instant Expert: Played with. Langa realizes that skating is similar to snowboarding, but he still has trouble remembering that skateboarding still has wheels on it.
- New Transfer Student: Langa is from Canada and transfers to Reki's school.
- Oh, Crap!: Reki's reaction on two separate occasions: when he realizes he's going to crash thanks to Shadow's bombs and when he realizes he accidentally grabbed the wrong bag for his client.
- Ominous Multiple Screens: As Adam is watching Langa's beef against Shadow he views it all through multiple screens on his wall as he conducts the music.
- Reflective Eyes: As Langa is practically flying in the air, he's reflected in Reki's eyes who likens the firecrackers exploding around Langa to snow in Okinawa.
- Satchel Switcheroo: In his haste to get to S and deliver their clients board, Reki accidentally ends up snagging the wrong bag with a more beat up skateboard.
- Spanner in the Works: Had Langa not decided to actually give skating a go, the rest of Sk8 The Infinity likely wouldn't have happened.
