Recap / Rune Scape Darkness Of Hallowvale

Go To

The Myreque is saved, for now, and they have a new base. However, this isn't the only branch of the Myreque. The group began in the Sanguinesti region, home of the vampyres. There's a Myreque group there too, and Veliaf wants to make contact with them. Problem is, the Sanguinesti is surrounded by the Vyrewall, which is constantly patrolled by the Vyrewatch. You'll have to sneak in by sea, repairing a small boat south of Burgh De Rott. Using the boat, you can sneak over to the human part of the Sanguinesti region, Meiyerditch.

It's... well, it's exactly what you'd expect from a city of people kept as cattle for vampires. It's broken-down maze of a giant ghetto, and the people there are bedraggled and anemic. The place is crawling with Vyrewatch, who can demand a blood tithe or mine work (your choice) whenever they notice you. The people you speak to are afraid to talk about the Myreque, but they will point you to a man who can give you some advice, if you flatter him a bit. He'll tell you to follow the sickle symbols on walls, which will take you on a parkour course through and above the city, all the way over to the Myreque's base, hidden under a trapdoor under a rug.

You then meet the Sanguinesti Myreque, but not their leader Safalaan, since he's over on the wall near Darkmeyer (the vampyre part of the city) sketching Castle Drakan. You'll meet him later. It takes some doing to convince the reasonably paranoid Myreque that you're a friend, but once they're sure, Vertida Sefalatis will give you a message to take back to Veliaf.

Once you do, Veliaf will ask you to go beg King Roald of Misthalin for help. While you're on your way for that, speak to Drezel and he'll say that he heard suspicious noises. Investigate, and you'll find out that it's werewolves kidnapping humans to pay extra blood tithes. The werewolves knock you out, but won't kidnap you because it would be too suspicious. Report this to Drezel, who urges you to please get Roald to send some help before Drakan does something nasty, since werewolves aren't supposed to be able to cross the River Salve.

Roald is receptive to your quest, but his Obstructive Bureaucrat of an advisor objects, first on religious reasons (the people of Morytania might not be Saradominists), then because the 'Edicts of Guthix' prohibit it. If Saradominist Misthalin were to blatantly help subversive elements in Morytania, then the Zamorakian Drakans might up the ante, and the war would escalate into God War II (The first one being why said edicts exist in the first place). If such a thing occurs, the followers of Guthix are bound to awaken him, and he's threatened to destroy the world if the God Wars happened again. The best Roald can do before the paperwork is filled out is to enact a 'mercenary protocol'- basically, armed adventurers can gather up to help the Myreque without Misthalin considering it a threat to national security.

You now have to take the iffy news to Veliaf and Safalaan, who both think that the refusal to lend more aid is because of political bullcrap. Safalaan also asks you to do the sketches he needs while he goes to talk with the other Myreque. You need to produce sketches of Castle Drakan from the north, west, and south sides. There are sickle symbols on the ground to tell you where to stand, and Safalaan will give you the necessary material.

While you're doing this, you'll see a cutscene of Vanstrom Klause (The vampire in charge of the Myreque hunt), and Rainis and Vanescula Drakan (siblings to the Lord Drakan who rules Morytania), and just before you finish, you'll be interrupted by Vanstrom, who promptly tries to kill you. He's interrupted by a servant of Vanescula, who ordered your bacon saved because she's interested in Safalaan. The servant, Sarius Guile, will also ask you to deliver a message and give you a cryptic hint about smoke and statues. Yes, you have to find the message yourself. It's hidden in the fireplace of a house just a little east of the Myreque hideout, and it speaks of a labratory where vampires performed Haealchemy experiments. Whatever they found spooked them badly enough that they abandoned and hid the lab. The guy who left the message was Sarius's father Marius, who worked there and hid the key behind a picture in the same house.

Head north to find the building hiding the entrance to the lab. It's pretty easy to find- the tapestry protecting it is a mite out-of-place. Don't put the key in the door- put it in the hands of the Vyrewatch statue. That will unlock the door and you'll be able to go inside. There's a book on Haelchemy inside, but out of your reach. You can get it using Telekinetic Grab (the runes of which are also in the lab, for all you rune-forgetters out there). Take the book back to Safalaan, then take Safalaan's message back to Veliaf. Congradulations, you're now a Myreque private, and quest complete!
