Directed by Gail Mancuso

Written by Betsy Borns

Roseanne is away visiting family. Stacy begs Jackie to come out with her on her blind date, leading to Jackie having a good time with another man. Dan finds out and becomes concerned, eventually turning to the Healy boys for advice. David suggests Jackie is seeking the attention that her husband won't give her. Jackie eventually comes to the same conclusion and rushes home to try and talk to Fred, but it's too late - he walks out.

Original airdate, February 22, 1995

  • I Have This Friend: Dan is legitimately talking about his friend (Fred)'s problems when he turns to Mark and David, but they both misunderstand and think he's talking about himself. Understandable as they had just seen him yelling on the phone about Roseanne not being where she should be.
  • Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Between this episode and the last, where in both cases Jackie is begging for Fred's attention and a little fun in life and he refuses to make any effort, many viewers feel no sympathy for Fred and blame him for the marriage's failure.
  • Values Dissonance: Many modern viewers may object to Jackie's behavior being described as "cheating on her husband". The idea that being out anywhere at all with a man who isn't your husband is inherently wrong may seem overly controlling. Others will consider it an "emotional affair", especially as she was pretending to be out with Stacy.
  • Written-In Absence: The only episode of the original series where Roseanne does not appear, as she was on medical orders to rest because of her pregnancy.
