The Night Before
Mischief Night, or the night before Halloween in Ocean Shores, has been a traditional night of toilet papering and egging houses. When Otto, Twister, and Sam get talked into going out with Eddie to cause trouble, Reggie must save them from getting busted after curfew.
Tropes:
- Cool and Unusual Punishment: Instead of making the kids stay home for Halloween after breaking curfew on Mischief Night, Raymundo forces them to all dress up as pumpkins and go trick-or-treating as a family. What’s worse, is they’re only allowed to get one piece of candy per house they visit.
- Halloween Episode
- No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: Reggie goes out to warn the boys that they better get home before Officer Shirley finds them and throws them in a cell for the night. However, at that exact moment, Shirley drives by and catches Reggie outside a toilet-paper covered house after the boys ditch her without a second thought.
- Only Sane Woman: As usual, Reggie is the only rational one in the group. The only one other than her to hesitate about participating in Mischief Night is Nervous Wreck Sam, but he’s too much of an Extreme Doormat to resist Otto and Twister for long.
- Scary Shadow Fakeout: Happens twice in this episode
- Otto, Twister, Sam, and Eddie get scared by what appears to be two monsters coming at them in the night, but it ends up being a father and his daughter coming back from a Halloween party. Although with how much of a brat she is, they may have been right to run away.
- Then, they’re running away from a house that’s already been pranked by another group of kids when the door opens and the shadow of a huge, scary dog appears. They theorize it must be a pitbull or a doberman, but it ends up being a tiny dog whose bark is worse than its bite…probably.
- Taking the Heat: Reggie is about to take the blame for being out on Mischief Night when Officer Shirley brings her home to her dad, until Otto, Twister, and Sam finally fess up.
- Toilet Paper Prank: The group’s main goal is to take part in one of these on Mischief Night.
- Unabashed B-Movie Fan: Ray Rocket, who has a scary movie marathon with his kids every year.
