Recap / Rick And The Loud House Chapter 15 Fandom Assimilation

Go To

Lucy deals with an embarrassing secret, the family deals with a clogged toilet, and Rick deals with an old flame. Just another day in the Loud House...

Rick & Morty episode: Auto Erotic Assimilation

Loud House episode(s): Sleuth or Consequences, Fandom Pains

  • Aesop Amnesia: Averted. Unlike the original episode, Lucy confesses her attitude towards Leni and Lori and all three agree to watch early episodes Vampires of Melancholia together.
  • Adaptational Context Change: From the beginning, we see that Lucy is the one who accidentally clogged the toilet while reading "Princess Pony". Therefore, the chapter is about Lucy going on one of Rick's adventures to get her mind of things instead of Lincoln trying to clear his name when he's blamed for it.
    • Rick prevents Lynn Sr. from grounding everyone for the toilet situation, thinking it's unfair to just involve everybody for one person's fault. The narration also reveals that Rick did so to make sure the Loud siblings are available for his adventures. As a result, none of the siblings blame or mistreat Lincoln for it.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: Lucy does not try to scheme to get Leni and Lori to stop watching Vampires by meddling with the studio set to kill off Tristan. All this because Rick just happened by and fortunately, prevented her from doing that by taking her and Leni towards Unity.
  • Adapted Out:
    • Since the focus of this chapter is on Lucy instead of Lincoln, we don't get Lincoln's Ace Savvy-style investigation into the clogged toilet this time around.
    • The middle half of "Fandom Pains" is replaced with a retelling of the original Rick and Morty episode with Leni and Lucy taking Morty's role as Rick reunites with Unity. This meant Lucy's scheme to have Leni and Lori to swear off VOM is cut off.
  • Call-Back: Leni admits that the reason that she didn't trust Unity was because of what happened with Mr. Needful in "Toads, Tiaras, and Something Ricked".
  • Happily Failed Suicide: Unlike the original episode, where it was a Bungled Suicide, Rick's attempted self-disintegration is stopped when an oblivious Lana steps into the garage asking if he could teach her how to fix his ship. Rick says yes.
  • Left Hanging: Lucy does not confess to clogging the toilet, leaving Lincoln and Lola still suspicious of one antoher. This wouldn't get resolved until the next chapter.
  • Lighter and Softer: Rick's Bungled Suicide from the original RM episode is turned into a Happily Failed Suicide in this chapter, where Lana unintentionally saves Rick by barging into the garage right as he was setting up the heat ray.
  • Out of Focus: Rick only takes Leni and Lucy for his reunion with Unity, leaving Lori back in the Loud household.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Rick actually convinces Lynn, Sr. not to ground the kids for the toilet saying it wouldn't be fair to punish all of them for something only one of them did and no one knows who did it. Granted, the narration admits that Rick also did this so the kids would still be available for his adventures.
  • Secretly Selfish: Rick stops Lynn Sr. from grounding everyone for the toilet clogging, as it would interfere with his adventures.
