Recap / Regular Show S 04 Ep 32 Blind Trust

Go To

Benson's been having some trust issues with Mordecai and Rigby which Pops takes notice of. So he takes them to a mountain and gives Mordecai and Rigby the challenge of leading Benson down the mountain blindfolded. Naturally things don't go as planned.

Tropes that apply to Blind Trust:

  • Chained Heat: Sorta, after falling off a cliff. Rigby gets poison oak in his mouth, Benson has his arms broken and Mordecai's legs and arms are busted. The only way they can survive is by tying themselves together with rope and going off Mordecai's instructions on where to run/dodge.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: Had not this episode made clear Mordecai broke all his arms and legs and Rigby got poison oak in his mouth after the three fell down the mountain, it would have looked like Mordecai broke his neck and rendered himself paraplegic and Rigby broke his teeth as in one scene when Rigby try to say he loves Benson too, the inside of his mouth looked like his teeth have been busted.
  • Irony: Benson was supposed to let Mordecai and Rigby lead him blindfolded down the mountain but called off the exercise because of one slip-up (Rigby slipped on some mud and lost his balance causing him to trip). However, he winds up blinding himself by falling into a beehive because he didn't see where he was going. The situation with the ghost animals also comes about because he doesn't bother to listen to Mordecai and Rigby's warning of entering a pet cemetery.
  • Jerkass Ball: Benson's a particular hard-ass in this episode. Sure, Mordecai and Rigby aren't the best employees around. But he hardly gives the two a chance and figures they're not capable over a little one slip up during the exercise.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Benson does mention all the other times Mordecai and Rigby have screwed up during their job to prove his point, including how the two once literally sang that he couldn't trust them.
Rigby: It's not our fault you have trust issues.
Benson: Oh, it's not? It's not your fault. That's funny, because I could think of a few times when it was your fault.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Lampshaded by Mordecai after Benson is blinded by wasps.
Mordecai: It's kind of funny that you took your blindfold off but weren't supposed to and then got blindfolded again anyways... by nature.
  • Stern Chase: The ghost animals really go all out against the three during the chase.
  • Worthy Opponent: The ghost moose eventually calls off the chase, citing he admires the level of trust between Benson, Mordecai and Rigby.
