Accentuate the Interrogative

Wash and Tucker talk about the latter's development, while Dr. Grey gives the captured Space Pirate a...check-up.

Tropes

  • Chekhov's Gun: Wash discovers at the end of the episode that Freckles' storage unit, previously given to him by Locus, contains a tracking device, which is how the pirates keep finding them.
  • Cold-Blooded Torture: Dr. Grey uses the facility equipment to torture the Space Pirate for information.
  • Hollywood Hacking: This is discussed with Tucker and Epsilon. After Epsilon reveals that the documents containing the manifest are in lockdown because of the Reds, Tucker blatantly asks why he doesn't just hack it. Epsilon mocks this suggestion.
Epsilon: Oh, why don't I just hack it? Oh while I'm at it, why don't I just "download the mainframe" and "cross-reference the database", huh? Don't talk to me about technical shit. This is hard, okay?
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Due to the Reds accessing the ship's logs in Season 11, the manifest is now locked-down, meaning Epsilon has to take time decrypting it.
  • Spanner in the Works: Apparently, the antics of the Reds and Blues caused the ship to break apart, causing the Space Pirates to only capture the half that landed at Crash Site Alpha.

Dr. Emily Grey

An example of a heroic version of this trope, Dr. Emily Grey is a member of the Federal Army of Chorus who was turned mad due to the horrors of war. While she still remains a very talented doctor, she's very unhinged, takes delight in others' injuries, and is scary enough to frighten the main characters.

How well does it match the trope?
