Spinelli is given six tickets to a wrestling match by the Ashleys. However, their suspicions drive them to determine whether this is part of a dangerous trap.

Tropes:

  • All for Nothing: Four of the gang break into the Ashleys' clubhouse and determine that the tickets are real. But then they trigger their security system and become trapped.
  • Ask a Stupid Question...: After the Ashleys' security doors seal.
Spinelli: Don't tell me we're trapped in here til morning!
Gretchen: Uh, unless you can think of another way for me to say it, yes.
  • Big Book Of Everything: The Ashleys have a large purple book containing all of their by-laws.
  • Bittersweet Ending: After all the trouble they went through to determine the authenticity of the tickets, T.J., Gretchen, Vince, and Spinelli are trapped in the Ashleys' clubhouse until morning. Meanwhile, Mikey and Gus have a great time at the match with Miss Finster, Captain Sticky, Tubby, and Hector. So at least the tickets weren't wasted.
  • Cassandra Truth: Due to their history with the Ashleys, the gang has trouble believing that they are genuinely doing something nice for them for once.
  • Continuity Nod: Spinelli mentions the time when the Ashleys entered her into the beauty contest, and Gretchen mentions the events of "Outcast Ashley".
  • Friendly Enemies: Spinelli and the Ashleys make no secret of their contempt for each other, but the girls still give her six wrestling tickets without any conditions because they know she and her friends would enjoy them.
  • Good Cop/Bad Cop: T.J. and Vince try this with Ashley A., and fail miserably.
  • Insane Troll Logic: Spinelli and Gretchen think that even the match itself might be fake, as part of an elaborate plot by the Ashleys to humiliate them.
  • Intergenerational Friendship: Mikey and Gus end up bringing Miss Finster and three of the kindergarteners with them to the match.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Spinelli's reaction to finding out that the tickets the Ashleys gave her were real, and she and her friends are locked in the Ashley clubhouse.
  • Nightmare Retardant: In-Universe Example. Spinelli opens the short by trying to scare the Ashleys with a rubber spider. But because the Ashleys come out before Spinelli shows them the spider, they aren't scared in the slightest.
  • Pet the Dog: The Ashleys offer Spinelli the tickets because she's technically a fellow Ashley; there's no secret motive behind it. They genuinely knew she loved wrestling and figured that she and her friends would enjoy the tickets far more than they would.
  • The Reveal: It turns out the Ashleys gave Spinelli the tickets because one of them received the tickets from her dad. None of the Ashleys wanted them, and their bylaws state they can only give unwanted gifts to another Ashley and since Spinelli's first name is Ashley even if she wasn't a member of their group it was okay to give the tickets to her.
  • Series Continuity Error: Hank tries to get the gang out of the Ashleys' clubhouse, saying they're lucky he doesn't leave until 5pm. In "Bachelor Gus," he is shown staying well into the night to turn the power off.
  • Wrong Genre Savvy: Basically, the Ashleys give Spinelli six tickets to a wrestling match. Knowing what the Ashleys are like, Spinelli and the others become suspicious, and when Mikey and Gus decide that the tickets are real, the rest of the gang dismiss the idea as naïve. By the time they find out that Mikey and Gus were right all along, they end up locked inside the Ashley's clubhouse.
