Italian Title: Una grande responsabilità

UK Title: A Great Responsibility

Air date: November 3rd, 2010

Kate and Magic plan to search around the Big City for Princess Ava. After convincing Peter, the father of Kate, to go with him, they start around a famous landmark. First, they meet a few stray cats, who tell them they haven’t seen Ava around. They eventually meet Mary, another tour guide who works with Peter, and Martina, her daughter who was homesick for Tuscany. After a Friendship Trail enters the Friendship Heart and show Martina’s image in it, Kate and Magic head to Pocketville to search for the ideal pet for her, and meet up with the Royal Guards again.

Krakia, after eavesdropping, returns to Eva to spread more news to her: that Kate has returned to Pocketville and an image of a girl appeared on her half of the Friendship Heart, indicating that another child is in need of a pet. On Eva’s half, it shows the image of a sheepdog. Eva reveals that it is not the Pocketpedia that has the power of choosing a pet for a child, but rather the combination of the Friendship Heart and the one who reads it, whereas the book is just a tool.

In the Princess Suite, Kate, Magic, and the Royal Guards try to figure out how the Pocketpedia works, only to come to a dead end. From there, they consult Evershell on the matter, to where he tells them that Kate plays a crucial role in their quest, and without her the kingdom would fall into peril.

Tropes featured in the episode:

  • Early-Bird Cameo: Otto, Camo, and Pia all appear in a group shot.
  • Jerkass: One of the stray cats Kate and Magic encounter. He is initially rude to them and insists that they ask someone else as he’s busy eating from the garbage, and when asked he and the other cats say that they haven’t seen her around.
  • Ms. Exposition: Eva dumps information on the Pocketpedia and that it’s actually not the one with the power to choose a pet for a child, but both the Friendship Heart and the reader in possession of it.
  • No Name Given:
    • None of the stray cats Kate and Magic meet have names.
    • Averted for Mary, the mother of Martina, making her the exception to the parents of other children in the series where they are unnamed.
