The planetary alignment to allow Queen Bansheera to be restored to her physical body is fast approaching. Seeing it, the Demons begin the preparations to begin the ritualistic ceremony to bring her back, led by the mystical Spellbinder. Despite Olympius wanting to oversee the ceremony personally to bring back his mother, Loki sends him back to Skull Cavern instead to be watched over by Jinxer while he and Vypra handle things there.
In Mariner Bay, the Rangers see what is going on as a dark cloud forms and retreat to the Aquabase. Ms. Fairweather notices the alignment herself, where Ryan reveals their worst fear is about to come true: The Demons are going to perform a ceremony to bring back Bansheera. If it succeeds, Mariner Bay is doomed. Mitchell immediately dispatches his children and the other Rangers to stop it.
Spellbinder begins the ceremony. As he chants and performs the gestures, the storm cloud grows worse and begins lashing out at buildings with dangerous lightning, forcing the Rangers to effect rescue operations, extinguish the fires, and clear the highways, effectively evacuating the city with support from first responders. Ryan locates the warehouse where the ceremony is taking place, but Vypra ambushes him and he is soon captured by Batlings. Spellbinder then plants his staff at the center of the symbol made from stone bricks to unleash a hurricane of energy into the heavens, which tips off the Rangers to Ryan's whereabouts and the location of the ceremony, allowing them to head to stop it.
When they arrive, after rescuing Ryan, Carter and Ryan fight Spellbinder while the other Rangers fight Loki, Vypra, and the Batlings. Despite apparently defeating him, Spellbinder recovers and grows to giant size, and worse still, continues the ceremony, leading to where a physical manifestation of Bansheera's face appears in the sky, and announces her intent to drown Mariner Bay personally with a tidal wave, which also is heading straight for the Aquabase as well.
With time critical, Ryan decides to stop the ceremony, and heads down to where Spellbinder left his crystal ball focusing the energy unattended. With one strike of his Titanium Axe, he shatters the crystal ball, causing Spellbinder to become severely weakened, and stopping the tidal wave as Bansheera vanishes with an anguished scream. Olympius collapses to his knees in horror at thinking he's lost his mother forever. As for Ryan, the other Rangers don't have time to contemplate if he made a Heroic Sacrifice to stop the ceremony, and finish off the weakened Spellbinder with the Lightspeed Solarzord artillery.
At the warehouse where the ceremony was held, Olympius berates Loki and Vypra for their failure, but before he can slay them in retaliation, Queen Bansheera reveals herself to have survived, but in a mutilated condition, blaming the Rangers for her current state. Olympius vows they will pay for this before they all return to Skull Cavern, while Ryan, having survived himself, is recovered by the other Rangers, especially Dana.
Back at the Aquabase, Ryan explains to the other Rangers, his father, sister, and Ms. Fairweather that Bansheera's power will only keep growing, and no matter what weapons, technology, or other means Lightspeed develops to counter her, it won't be enough. She will destroy Mariner Bay one way or another to rebuild her palace and rule the world. To stop her, Ryan has decided to take a leave of absence to go investigate the tomb where the Demons were originally imprisoned to see if he can find a solution there and seal them away again. Although the other Rangers want to come with him, Ryan reminds them that their duty is to protect Mariner Bay. After saying goodbye to his father, sister, and the Rangers, Ryan departs to carry out his solo mission, but promises to return.
- Big "NO!": Bansheera, as the tidal wave dissipates.
- Body Horror: Due to the ceremony being interrupted, Bansheera is left in a misshapen form without any limbs and with significantly less power.
- Bullying a Dragon: After being blamed for the ceremony's failure, Loki threatens to make Olympius sorry for being so harsh towards him and Vypra. Olympius responds by knocking him on his ass.
- Even Bad Men Love Their Mamas: Olympius is devastated and outraged over Bansheera being presumably lost, and he's just as relieved to see her in-person.
- Mass "Oh, Crap!": The Aquabase when they see Bansheera's tidal wave heading for them.Ms. Fairweather: INCOMING TIDAL WAVE!!
Captain Mitchell: SECURE ALL DECKS!! - Now You Tell Me: Ryan apparently knew the demons where planning this ceremony to bring back their queen, yet for some reason didn't tell anyone at Lightspeed until the day of the ritual actually arrives.
- Pet the Dog: After the ceremony is ruined, Loki sounds rather sympathetic towards Olympius, at least until the guy blames him and Vypra for all this.
- Put on a Bus: Ryan departs to search for a way to trap the demons.
- So Proud of You: Captain Mitchell over Ryan's intent to find a way to again trap the demons.
- The Bad Guy Wins: Despite the rangers best attempts, Queen Bansheera is restored to a physical form, just as the demons planned. Downplayed in that she is not complete due to the ritual getting interrupted.
- This Cannot Be!: Jinxer over the ritual's failure.
- Villainous Vow: Olympius vows to make the Rangers pay interrupting the ceremony and mutilating his mother.
