Chapter Five of POST-MU Life's a Scream!
After their first victory in the Scare Games, Laura and her sorority were invited back to celebrate their success with the OK Fraternity. Despite what Laura felt was her fault for leaving Colette behind, the rest of her sorority don't blame her for something that wasn't even her doing to begin with. Monnie, witnessing Randall's concern for Laura and their good conversation with each other, felt envy creeping slowly onto her features.
By sheer chance, Laura and Sulley were given the task of getting plates and cookery from the kitchen, and Laura seized this chance to have a heart-to-heart talk with the son of the Sullivans. Calling him out on his arrogance and disregard for others who are trying to support him, as well as making use of others as means to his ends, Laura cut deeply into Sulley's heart with words till the point the latter fell to his knees crying for forgiveness. Later realising that Sulley has indeed changed for the better, Laura revealed that she was only testing Sulley, and the heir to the Sullivan name was visibly relieved by her change of attitude.
Naomi, despite being on the receiving end of Terry Perry's hate and ranting speech, refused to give up on her pursuit for his heart, and she was determined more than ever to fight with the other monster girls who were eyeing the elder Perry twin as a romantic love interest.
Mrs Carlton shows why she's the life of the Frat Row by essentially loving the entire Frat Row and complimenting the various members on their various appearances, as well as greeting Dean Hardscrabble and Professor Knight when they passed by the OK Frat House.
Laura noticed that Johnny was definitely interested in her, as seen from her various lessons in which the ROR president was more interested in her looks and character than paying attention to the Lecturers. Carla was visibly annoyed by this type of behaviour, but Johnny paid her no mind.
During a routine training session with her sorority, Laura asked her members to state their strengths. Colette was a fashionista by her nature, Dot was quite a batter in high school, Katy was a cheerleader, and Monnie has two extra arms to her usual two. During a conversation with Mike and Squishy, Laura nearly suffered another panic attack that was thankfully halted by those present. Johnny tried to make his move on Laura, but was thankfully pulled away by Carla who told him that Laura wasn't interested in his play-moves for getting her heart. Johnny, of course, refused to give up.
The JOX Fraternity met up with all those present and invited them to the party in the evening, while telling Squishy to bring his mother along for the rest of the student body to taste her cooking. George Sanderson, who was obviously checking out Colette, couldn't get his courage up and left in a hurry, despite him remembering how flustered he was the night before after the first Scare Games event when she accidentally fell into his arms. Colette, on the other hand, was absolutely smitten with George.
The Perry twins spent some quality time with Katy, in which they took to a dance of their favourite song, and pulled Katy in for the wide. Naomi, witnessing this behind half-open doors, was immediately filled with longing and sadness, but she doesn't want to ruin the moment that Terry Perry could smile due to his lifted spirits. So she left to pour her heart woes to Nadya instead, who informed her that there were indeed other Monster Girls vying for Terry Perry's heart, Sonia and Maria chief among them.
During a baking session with Mrs Carlton, Monnie noticed that Randall was more interested in Laura than her, and her resentment soon gave way to jealousy which crept into her heart, even as she watched Randall interacting warmly with Laura. Johnny, seeking a chance to talk to Laura, lure Archie away with food and succeeded in drawing Laura to the ROR Frat House. To his bad luck, Carla intervened with her sorority and brought Laura away, but not before exchanging barbs of conversations with Chet and Johnny. Walking back to the OK Frat House, they were treated to Randall's delicious cupcakes, which Laura complimented him on it, unknowingly deepening Monnie's jealousy even further.
During the evening at Frat Row, which the students from the various schools were enjoying their spare time by indulging their interests, the JOX house was abuzz with excitement. Colette met Brynn of the EEK sorority, and they struck up quite the conversation (mostly on Colette's side) and Colette was practically begging Brynn to try on her new fashion designs. George, who was observing the duo, was hesitant to approach but after some verbal nudging from Mike, he did but fell down the stairs. Brynn took this chance to introduce George to Colette, of which the former was immensely grateful for the much-needed assistance.
As the students mingled among themselves in the JOX Fraternity house, Naomi searched for Terry Perry in the hopes of finding a chance to talk to the elder Perry twin, but she was clearly distressed by the fact that quite a number of other Monster Girls are also looking for him. When she finally found who she was looking for, a minor mishap with Mrs Carlton resulted in Naomi getting her sweater soaked in roast soup. Seeing that Terry Perry did not even look in her direction, instead choosing to avert his gaze from her, Naomi left quickly before her flood of tears would burst from the cracking dam of her broken heart, with Nadya following behind to assist her in the clean-up.
Nadya managed to talk to Percy, who inquired on her mothering of Naomi and the assisting of matters of the heart, and he mentioned about the incident that happened in the library that caught everyone's attention. After Nadya has left Percy turned his attentions to his fellow Fraternity brother Dirk, who seemed to have an attraction of sorts on Violet, who is Percy's cousin. Wishing Dirk luck, Percy gave him a friendly warning that dating any of the EEK girls will likely result in "The Run" in which the EEK girls will jog out of their dates' sight when they don't like any of their potential dates.
Randall was pleasantly pleased that things have changed for the better with students actually accepting his cupcakes and complimenting him on his baking skills. Brock and Claire arrived to join in the fun, but Brock found out that someone was missing from the party: Laura Sharp.
Not being someone who liked parties much except for the great food, Laura buried herself in theory books until Mike and Katy came to get her from her dorm room. Arriving at the JOX party, she was quite shocked by the hustle and bustle of the whole place, but eventually got used to it with the companionship of her fellow friends. She even managed to share a nice moment with Squishy, and got introduced to the many fraternity and sorority members around MU, and even chancing a conversation with Flora Blob-Ghast, who is Big Red's girlfriend. During the conversation with Flora, Laura nearly suffered another panic attack when Flora casually asked if she was interested in Big Red. Seeing this, Mike and Sulley discussed what they know about Laura so far and Mike quipped that they should give Laura some time to gain confidence in herself, while Sulley wondered what happened to Laura in Fear Tech to give her such severe panic attacks.
Laura later met Brock and Claire, the former who hugged her despite the latter's clear disapproval. Witnessing a match between the Ping Pong legend Zane Xiao and Javier Rios of ROR, the Monsters present were watching the event with interest. Johnny tried to flirt with Laura again, but Laura was saved by the announcement that Zane is taking a break, and Mrs Carlton volunteered to play against Javier. Although the RO Rs were both shocked and amused by this, Javier apparently has bitten more than he could chew when he found himself slowly being beaten my Mrs Carlton. Everyone was shocked when Mrs Carlton eventually won, especially Chet, as he was betting on the event with Brynn, and lost quite some money.
The next day, during science class (which Mike and Sulley were in attendance as helpers to the Lecturer) in which they were experimenting with Hydrofluoric acid, the Perry twins got into a sibling argument over Terry Perry's cold shoulder treatment towards Naomi. In the process of their argument, Terry knocked over the acid they were working on onto the Bunsen Burner which reacted explosively with the chemical, resulting in the Perry twins both getting caught in a major explosion that blew up the entire science lab.
