Ash and co. go swimming in a lake and encounter a bunch of Pokémon called Lotad, one of which has trouble keeping up with its friends. A little girl named Natalie appears out of nowhere and scolds them for swimming in the lake and demands they come with her to receive a lecture, only for her to get the lecture herself from her sister. Brock, as usual, falls for her sisters, but in a strange twist, Natalie likes Brock, much to his immense discomfort. The sisters run a berry garden and our heroes spend the day helping them out along with the Lotad and learning about the different kinds of berries. Brock continues to make friends with the one quirky Lotad who does things at its own pace. Later, Natalie goes missing, having wandered off into the woods to find a Sitrus Berry for Brock, who was interested in them. Feeling responsible, Brock goes after her, along with the others and his Lotad buddy, but Team Rocket shows up and swipes all the Lotad along with Pikachu. Fortunately, our heroes, along with Brock's new Lotad friend, save the day, and Brock receives a berry guide and Lotad decides to join his team.
