Jinny, a friend of Parker, has a Feebas, which is mocked for not being cute. Chloe finds herself invested in helping the two win the Friendship Festival in Slateport City.

  • A Day in the Limelight: Chloe's third focus episode of the season.
  • Death Glare: When two women start mocking Jinny's performance, Chloe glares at them like she wants to murder them.
    • Raboot gives a subtle one to Jinny's friends which makes them all scared and run away.
  • The Determinator: Despite Jinny's inability to swim, she is determined to enter and win the contest so people can see how great her Feebas is. This is what prompts Ash, Goh, Chloe and Parker to help her.
  • Good Parents: Professor Cerise finally shows that he's also a parent when he subtly encourages Chloe to help Jinny out.
  • Kick the Dog: Meowth using Scratch to attack Feeby in front of Jinny just to make him look like a total jerk.
  • Mythology Gag: A character uses a Feebas for a competition only for a villainous group to attack said Feebas (and the trainer exclaims that Feebas actually is a good Pokémon despite its physical appearance), and then it evolves to Milotic to save the day? Wait, didn't this happen in Pokémon Adventures?
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Professor Cerise telling Chloe that "It's the effort that counts" is one of the factors that convinces Chloe to help Jinny and makes her see how Pokémon are amazing creatures.
  • Valley Girl: The two swimmers who insult Jinny have this accent and personality.
  • What Measure Is a Non-Cute?: The focus of the episode is Jinny trying to convince her friends that her Feebas is cute.
