Ash visits Sophocles so they can research a possible rematch for Tapu Koko. So what happens when a training mishap summons the Guardian of Melemele Island prematurely?
This episode contains examples of the following tropes:
- Action Prologue: Ash and Rockruff battling another trainer and his Mudbray.
- Balloon Belly: Both Ash and Pikachu pig out on Sophocles' mother's Malasada donuts, leading to an admonishment from RotomDex.
- Diving Save: Ash jumps off a cliff to save Pikachu. Tapu Koko follows them over to save them both.
- Techno Babble: Not surprisingly, Sophocles' tech talk goes way over Ash's head.
- This Is Something He's Got to Do Himself: Ash and Sophocles were strategizing to send Rockruff out against Tapu Koko. But the only one Tapu Koko wanted to face was Pikachu.
