Recap / Pokemon S 18 E 31 Rotoms Wish

Go To

This episode contains examples of the following tropes:

  • Adaptation Expansion: The Lost Hotel is given a backstory to how it became the way it was. And Rotom, a random encounter in such a location, becomes central to the plot of this episode.
  • The Atoner: Rotom was so ashamed of letting its trainer down (causing the Lost Hotel to turn out the way it was in the present) that when presented with the idea to change the past, it Jumped at the Call.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Mantle and his friends go through one in the fixed timeline.
  • I Lied: Mantle goes back on the condition that he and his henchmen would leave if Weston won, so Ash makes sure he abides by that promise.
  • New Powers as the Plot Demands: Rotom turns an elevator in the Lost Hotel into a time machine by simply merging with it.
  • Ripple-Effect-Proof Memory: Only Ash’s party remember what happened in the original timeline.
  • Set Right What Once Went Wrong: The gang help Rotom by having it possess electric items to learn Leaf Storm, Blizzard and Hydro Pump, giving it the edge against Mantle's Krookodile.
  • Sore Loser: Mantle doesn't take his loss well, and so decides to take ownership of the Lost Hotel by force.
  • Time for Plan B: Serena says this during Weston's battle against Mantle, which is the cue for Rotom to switch forms.
  • Whole-Plot Reference: This Episode reuses the premise from "Time-Warp Heals All Wounds", with Ash and co entering a crappy, rundown area, go back in time to alter history and end up in a better present.
