Sure, she seems innocent now. Just wait until she starts trying to tell you how to run properly.

Ash's training for his final Sinnoh Gym Battle leads to him coming across a buried treasure chest, with a disturbing secret that only James of Team Rocket knows the truth about. The caper leads to another run-in with his psychotic fiancée, Jessebelle. Where's Growlie when you need him?

This episode contains examples of the following tropes:

  • Breather Episode: After the heavy Team Galactic climax, lets enjoy a silly, comical romp.
  • Chekhov's Gag: Jessie disguises herself as Jessebelle in order to steal the treasure chest. At the end of the episode, Team Rocket gets sent blasting off, and somehow it was Jessebelle who was sent flying with James and Meowth, to James' horror.
  • Enemy Mine: Ash, Brock and Dawn help protect James when Jessebelle comes knocking.
  • Evil-Detecting Dog: Growlie didn't like Jessebelle from the start. With good reason, as time proved.
  • Hope Spot: After Ash complies with James' request, James was happy in his "flight path", only to realize that it wasn't Jessie who was sent flying with him and Meowth.
  • Implacable Man: Now that she's got a lead on her betrothed, Jessebelle is pulling out all the stops in order to capture him this time.
  • Mini-Mecha: The treasure chest can trasform into one to fight, if somebody tries too many wrong passwords.
  • Never My Fault: Despite digging up the chest and bringing it right to the estate, the twerps (specifically Dawn) refuse to see why they should help James escape his fiancé. Slightly justified since he is technically a criminal.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero/Spanner in the Works: James actually came close to getting his treasure chest away from his servant Sebastian without getting discovered, until he finds out too late that his Growlie is also in the estate. Growlie proceeds to pounce on his master, revealing the whole facade.
  • The Password Is Always "Swordfish": Even easier... James remembers right at the end that the vocal command to open the chest was "Open, password".
  • Ret-Canon: Here, it’s shown that Jassiebelle turned James off when she suggested he replace Growlie with a Skitty. This was probably not the intention of the writers for the episode this one is a sequel to, since Skitty didn’t exist back then.
  • Sequel Episode: To Holy Matrimony way back in the first season
  • Transforming Mecha: James's treasure chest can turn from a little robot to a rocket.
  • A Twinkle in the Sky: An Invoked Trope; James asked for Ash to send the Rockets flying to escape Jessebelle. It works, until it's revealed that Jessebelle got blasted off with them...
