Flash and his group have finally arrived at Fillydelphia City, with Flash eager to acquire his next badge. Unfortunately, the Gym Leader is out of town, so the group decide to tour Fillydelphia Gardens in the meantime.
- Actually, I Am Him: At first, it seems like Thorax is just another worker at the Fillydelphia Gardens. Towards the end, he reveals that he's actually Fillydelphia's Gym Leader and agrees to battle Flash the next day.
- All Webbed Up: When most of the group are caught by the Stariders, they get webbed up in cocoons.
- Badass in Distress: Nearly all of Flash's group is captured by the Stariders, requiring Thorax to knock sense back into the Stariders and free the group.
- Cover Innocent Eyes and Ears: When Flash curses "that's total Bouffalant", Twilight covers Spike's ears while frowning at Flash.
- Friend to All Living Things: Ocellus loves caring and interacting with Pokémon, which is why she always volunteers to work at the Fillydelphia Gardens.
- Hold Your Hippogriffs: When Flash learns that the Fillydelphia City Gym Leader is out of town and the Gym isn't accepting challenges, Flash screams that is "total Bouffalant". Bouffalant is of course a buffalo based Pokémon, so in other words Flash is saying it is "total bull".
- I'm Standing Right Here: When Flash is complaining about the Fillydelphia City Gym Leader not being present, he asks what kind of Gym Leader leaves their Gym. Doc reminds Flash that he left his Gym too, causing Flash to Verbal Backspace and add "Besides the ones that have a very valid reason of course".
- Reasonable Authority Figure: When Pharynx catches Spike holding a Grubirth, he instantly accuses him of stealing, but Thorax bails Spike out, telling his brother to let him go.
- Shared Mass Hallucination: When Flash commands Skyler to blow away hallucinogenic gas released from Grubirth, it affects some nearby Stariders, causing them all to hallucinate hostile shadow creatures and turning them hostile.
- Ship Tease: Before they depart, Derpy gives one last hug to Doc, slightly blushing in the process.
