- Robson mocking Cyril over his rape.
- We find out that Schillinger spits in Busmalis's food daily.
- Lack of Empathy:
- Coyle shows no remorse for his crimes and finds the fact he killed a family who never did anything to him highly amusing.
- Kenny is impressed by Coyle's murder of a family
- Garvey is disturbingly indifferent to the idea of Alvarez killing himself.
- So is Glynn, though this is more understandable in this case due to the rivalry between the men and Alvarez's refusal to tell Glynn who raped his daughter.
- Howell initially shows empathy about Diane's mother's death, but discards it in favor of irrational jealousy when McManus comforts Diane with a hug and time off to grieve.
- No Good Deed Goes Unpunished:
- McManus's innocent attempt to comfort Diane over her mother's death leads to a jealous Howell attacking him.
- Mukada goes to deliver Alvarez some food and ends up almost being attacked.
- Old Friend: McManus brings Murphy in precisely because they've known each other for a long time and knows he can trust him which is more than can be said for the other CO's
- Reasonable Authority Figure: Said gives Augustus good advice about how to handle the situation With Coyle.
- To Be Lawful or Good: Hill wants justice for Coyle's victims but fears he'll be killed if he snitches on a fellow inmate. He ultimately decides to snitch on Coyle anyway.
- Voice of Reason: Khan prevents a confrontation between Said and Arif.
- Villainous Friendship: Kenny genuinely likes Coyle, being very angered by his transfer out of the kitchen and later his arrest.
- Worthy Opponent: Glynn shows respect for Augustus acting out of honor when it goes against his own self-interest
