Hopper reluctantly continues to help Aleida smuggle drugs into the prison when he realises that his life is going nowhere while Taystee's trial finally begins. The tensions between C-Block and D-Block continue to build up and it seems that things will become even more brutal when Carol and Barb are forced into a cell together by CO Copeland in the hopes that they'll earn her points for Fantasy Inmate. Madison struggles to keep her reputation during kickball when it's clear that Piper is the better team captain while Frieda's paranoia pays off when she realises that there is an inmate trying to kill her on Carol and Barb's behalf.
A furious Linda meanwhile offers Sophia a deal if she refuses to sue MCC for her mistreatment at their hands.
This episode provides examples of the following tropes:
- Assassin Outclassin': Gladice doesn't even get to try and kill Frieda, who was savvy enough to work out Gladice's ties with Carol and Barb before she could act. Frieda then makes it look as if Gladice was trying to kill her and gets her sent to SHU.
- Borrowed Catchphrase: Frieda is able to deduce that Gladice has ties with Carol and Barb when she says the same catchphrase that they do.Frieda: BullshitGladice: Bull-true
- Bribing Your Way to Victory: Aware that Sophia suing the MCC for how badly she was mistreated, Linda instead offers her $300,000 and an early release rather than deal with the bad publicity it would generate. It works.
- Disproportionate Retribution: Madison tries to give Piper extra time by planting drugs on her just because she finds her annoying and hates that she's starting to become popular amongst her girls for being a great kickball captain.
- Running Gag: Poor Dwight gets her nose broken again when Madison purposefully runs into her during kickball to try and get the entire thing cancelled.
- Suspicious Spending: Suzanne mentions the rich inmate who has filled her cell with stuff from commissary, which is how Frieda immediately identifies her as someone who could have been paid to kill her.
- Title Drop: Suzanne says the title word-for-word after Piper tells everyone to stand up against the wall for suicides; she means in kickball terms.
- Vomit Indiscretion Shot: When Badison throws up after being forced to run around during Piper's training; she's not nearly as fit as the other inmates
- Wounded Gazelle Gambit: Frieda pulls this against Gladice, her would be assassin, by slashing her own arm with a homemade shiv and then yelling to the guards that Gladice tried to kill her.
