Go To

"Know This, We’ve Noticed" is the first episode of Season 9 of One Tree Hill and originally aired January 11th, 2012. The episode was written and directed by Mark Schwahn.

In the season premiere, as Brooke and Julian begin to adjust to life with twins, Haley and Nathan struggle with his career keeping away from home. Meanwhile, a mysterious problem arises for Clay and Quinn, and although they don't know it yet, faces from the past threaten to interrupt plans for all their futures.

Contains examples of the following tropes:

  • The Bus Came Back:
    • Chris Keller returns for the first time since "It Gets The Worst At Night" in Season 4.
    • Whilst appearing in the last episode, this marks the point that Dan Scott returns to the show on a full time basis.
  • Double Entendre: Chris Keller used the name "Harry Johnson" on his application for the position at Red Bedroom.
  • How We Got Here: The episode opens on a montage showing a burning building, Dan Scott and Chris Keller seemingly plotting a murder, Chase in the back of a police car, Quinn and Clay arguing, Brooke trashing a cafe, Haley identifying a body in the morgue, and Julian being assaulted in an alley; edited in such a way that these seem to be directly connected. By the end of the episode, we only have context for the burning building.
  • No Theme Tune: The show has once again dropped the opening title sequence, and as such, "I Don’t Want To Be" by Gavin DeGraw is gone once again.
  • Promotion to Opening Titles: Tyler Hilton returns after 5 years, and is bumped up to main cast this time around.
  • Shout-Out: The cafe patrons greeting and saying goodbye to Brooke and Haley en masse is taken from Cheers.
  • Titled After the Song: The episode title is taken from the song "Know This, We’ve Noticed" by An Horse.
  • Unseen No More: Ted Davis, Brooke’s father, finally makes his first appearance in the series.
