Recap / One Hundred And One Dalmatian Street S 1 E 39 Poodlefall

Go To

Hansel joins Dylan on a quest in Poodlewolf: The Board Game.

This episode features examples of:

  • Back from the Dead: Dolly, Dawkins and Hansel set out on a quest in-game, to revive Dylan's "Poodlewolf" character.
  • Brick Joke: Dylan agrees to let Dolly play when she threatens to tell Delilah where he is, since it's his turn to use the pooper scooper. Later, Dolly finds a delivery full of pooper scoopers, and when Dylan is about to confront Constantin, Delilah calls Dylan to do that job.
  • Call-Back: Dolly uses the Bowl Flinger to launch herself into Constantin's house, having found it can also launch her and the other puppies onto the roof in "London, We Have A Problem."
  • Cats Prefer Boxes: Dolly is able to distract Constantin with an empty box.
  • Chimney Entry: How Dolly gets into Constantin's house.
  • Continuity Nod: The events of "Poodlewolf!" get a number of references in this episode:
    • At the beginning of the episode, Dolly refuses to play the sidekick character again.
    • Constantin sees what the dalmatians are doing, and questions: "Poodlewolf!? Again!?"
  • Easily Forgiven: Although Hansel does call out Dolly for getting Poodlewolf killed, he later joins her and Dawkins in the quest to revive Poodlewolf with no hard feelings.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Because of what Dolly did to cause Dylan to lose his character, even Dizzy and Dee Dee, who practically worship Dolly, are angry with her.
  • Heroic BSoD: Dylan has one to losing his character in "Poodlewolf."
  • Jerkass Realization: After Hansel reminds her of how much Dylan loved Poodlewolf, Dolly is sick with guilt and decides to bring back her brother's hero from the dead.
  • Mailman vs. Dog: Part of the reason of how Constantin has all the dalmatians' mail.
  • Mexican Standoff: Dolly and Constantin find themselves in one. Dolly threatens to report Constantin to P.C. Pearl for stealing their mail, but Constantin points out that Dolly would also have to explain that she had broken in to his house.
  • Narrator: Dawkins becomes this when he, Dolly and Hansel set out on a quest for the Bone of Resurrection.
  • RPG Episode: This time, the "Poodlewolf" franchise is used as a Dungeons and Dragons styled game.
  • Seeks Another's Resurrection: The campaign which Dolly, Dawkins and Hansel play in order to gain the Resurrection Bone, in order to revive Dylan's Poodlewolf character.
  • Serious Business: EVERYONE treats Dylan losing his character in "Poodlewolf" as serious, even holding a funeral for it. Dolly is unconvinced, but comes through when she realizes how much the game means to Dylan.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome:
    • Dolly, who has no "Poodlewolf" game knowledge, sets out to complete the most difficult game to get the Ressurection Bone with Dawkins. They both die instantly.
    • Even after Hansel's motivation, and because Dawkins and Dolly start back as level 1 players, the three still get killed several times before they reach the end of the game.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: Constantin, who doesn't like the puppies but usually doesn't antagonize them unless provoked, is shown to be hoarding their mail for no given reason other than because he can.
    • Dolly is also exceptionally cruel, even for her, as she deliberately sabotages the Poodlewolf game - getting Dylan's Poodlewolf killed in the process - just so that she can go to the park. She does realize the error of her ways after Hansel calls her out, though.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Dizzy, Dee Dee, Diesel and Hansel give one to Dolly, whose actions lead to Dylan losing his character in "Poodlewolf."
  • Widow's Weeds: All the puppies wear black collars for the funeral of Dylan's Poodlewolf character.
