Recap / OK K.O.! Let's Be Heroes S 2 E 35 KO's Health Week

Go To

K.O. spends a week dispensing healthy tips to everyone in the plaza.

Tropes:

  • Beware the Nice Ones: When the Boxmore bots attack when the Bodega trio are about to go hiking, K.O. gets right up in Darrell's face and basically shouts them down from attacking and into going on the hike with them. The robots, Enid, and Rad all look distinctly uncomfortable during this.
  • Bowdlerise: In the storyboard, the newspaper K.O. showed to Colewort had the headline "soda and burger [sic] cause 500 deaths a second" (with a note suggesting equally improbable substitutions, such as "explosions" or "wars"). In the actual episode, it simply says "soda and burgers ruin people's bodies".
  • Carnivore Confusion: For Nutrition Day, K.O. replaces Colewort's junk food with steamed vegetables... which includes Colewort's grandmother.
  • The Cobbler's Children Have No Shoes: K.O. gets so focused on encouraging everyone else's health, he severely undersleeps, which results in the Boxmore bots turning the lecturing on him.
  • Edgy Backwards Chair-Sitting: Shannon transforms into a chair which Darrell sits on to "rap" with K.O.
  • Go-Karting with Bowser: When the Boxmore robots arrive as the Bodega trio is going off on a hike, K.O. browbeats them into calling off the attack and joining them, and they happily do so, with the six of them genuinely having a good time together. They even take over on giving a health lesson to K.O. once he proves himself too tired to keep hiking, teaching him about how valuable a good sleep schedule is.
  • Pet the Dog: Darrell, Shannon, and Raymond are just as horrified as Rad and Enid when K.O. accidentally faints off a cliff due to Sleep Deprivation, are genuinely upset that K.O. missed so much sleep, and personally bring him home and put him to bed.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The cup of soda that beats up Colewort on Nutrition day resembles Master Shake of Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
    • K.O.'s mental health speech ends with material on being out of balance with larger dimensions and obtaining True Sight, referring to The Mystical Laws and other anime films made by Happy Science.
  • Sleep Deprivation: By the end of the Friday hike, K.O. has this badly due to, ironically, staying up late researching health facts for his health week.
  • Ungrateful Bastard: The Boxmore robots make sure K.O. gets well-rested after overworking himself, after which he cheerfully punches their heads off. Neither side treats it as a betrayal, the former still smiling happily at K.O.'s recovery as their heads sail through the air.
  • You Need a Breath Mint: The first Health Day is hygiene, and Rad's breath is toxic.
