Go To

Red Action invites Enid to hang out with her, but trouble from the future appears.

Tropes:

  • An Aesop: You shouldn't run from your mistakes, because they'll only get worse. You have to face them.
  • Batman Gambit: Red gets Enid to hang out with her by buying a pack of gum and purposely forgets to take it with her as she leaves, making Enid leave the store to return it to her.
  • Blatant Lies: When the Hue Troop come to capture Red and Enid questions who they are, Red tells her they're rogue performance artists and they're everywhere in the Danger Zone.
  • Contrived Coincidence: When Enid and Red are hanging out in the Danger Zone, the Hue Troopers just happen to show up to capture Red on the exact same day the meteor carrying the Prism Crystal crashes on Earth. Thanks to these events, Red is able to replace the crystal she broke in the future and the Hue Troopers forgive her.
  • A Day in the Limelight: The episode focuses on Red Action as she hangs out with Enid.
  • Delayed Reaction:
    • When Enid sees that Red just uploaded a new photo that features her and Red, it takes her a couple of seconds to realize that she's in the photo and Red is standing in front of the counter.
    • When a meteor is heading towards them, Enid asked Red if that meteor is the same one from her story. Red tells her the meteor crash happened a long time ago, but Enid had to remind her that she's from the future and this is a long time ago. It takes Red a couple of seconds to realize this.
  • Failed a Spot Check:
    • Enid completely failed to notice that Red Action entered the store while she was on her phone. While looking through Red Action's photos on her social media page, Enid sees that Red just posted a new photo, which is Red taking a selfie with Enid behind her on her phone. Enid scoffs at the idea of Red hanging out with her until she finally realizes that she was just in the photo and Red had to get her attention to notice her.
    • After Enid and Red agreed to deal with the Hue Troop, they never noticed the Troop or their vehicles appear near them while they were talking.
  • Foreshadowing: Before Red Action could summon her Hover Tank, she makes Enid look away and tells her to cover her ears and made sure no one is watching. When she's summoning her tank, she shouts for it while doing Sentai poses. This hints what type of hero she is before the reveal of her old team and that she's not proud of what she was thanks to a stupid mistake on her part.
  • I Choose to Stay: After the Hue Troops forgive Red and invite her back to the team, Red chooses to stay in the present after being accustomed to it.
  • Impossible Theft: When Red leaves her pack of gum behind on the counter, Enid takes her gum to return it to her. Once Enid exits the store with the gum in her hand, Red is waiting by the entrance and is already chewing on the gum and blows a bubble to surprise Enid. When Enid looks at her hand that's holding the gum and sees that it's gone, she asked Red how she took it, but Red responds with a chuckle.
  • Legacy Character: The Hue Troops we see inherited their mantles from previous generations.
  • Mandatory Line: K.O. only shows up in the beginning with one line to tell Enid that Red Action wants to hang out with her.
  • Meaningful Look: After Enid and Red leave after Red decided to stay in 201X, Yellow Technique is quiet as she watches Red leave and then comments that Red changed. She continues to watch until she's told it's time to go.
  • Morality Pet: Enid seems to be this to Red as she's finally facing her problems and being more honest.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Red Action's whole reason for fleeing to the past is because she accidentally broke the Prism Crystal, running away from her problems lead to her team accusing her of betrayal and actively hunting her down.
  • Ship Tease: Enid and Red Action spend a lot of time blushing around one another. At one point Enid sees Red through Crush Filter, and Red herself flirts with Enid on several occasions. Word of God reveals this episode is about their first date.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The Hue Troop is basically the Power Rangers, complete with poses and animal-themed vehicles.
    • The Hue Troop's helmets are a homage to Miss America from Battle Fever J.
    • Before Enid and Red Action head towards the Danger Zone, they pass by a highway sign that reads, "Danger Zone (highway to the) Next Exit", which references Kenny Loggin's song from Top Gun, "Danger Zone".
  • Sure, Let's Go with That: Subverted. When Red retrieves the Prism Crystal from the meteor crash, the Hue Troop assumes the reason why she traveled to the past is to atone for breaking the crystal (instead of running away from her problems). Red was about to go with that until Enid gives her a Disapproving Look which makes her confess the truth.
  • We Used to Be Friends: Red and the rest of the Hue Troop. It's implied a couple times that she and Yellow Technique were particularly close (possibly even in a relationship). They patch it up at the end of the episode.
  • X-Ray Sparks: Enid lampshades this after Red is struck by lightning.
Enid: I think I saw your skeleton, dude!
