Cole, Wu, and Vania are rescued by the Lowly, a group of adventurers who had previously been banished in the exact same way.
- Fighter, Mage, Thief: Korgran, Fungus, and Plundar, respectively.
- Flashback Effects: As per usual with WilFilm-era episodes, the flashbacks are rendered in 2D.
- Hearing Voices: Korgran's axe speaks to him.
- Idiosyncratic Wipes: During Korgran's flashback, the scene transitions are a Shout-Out to He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, complete with a near-identical shout of "Korgran!"
- Meaningful Rename: Cole renames the Lowly to the Upply, due to his plan to find a way back to the surface.
- Shout-Out: Being a party of adventurers with a Fighter, Mage, Thief setup who went on a quest and are now trapped in a dungeon, the Lowly clearly reference Dungeons & Dragons. Particularly Plundar, who makes decisions by rolling a d20 and a d6.
- Suspiciously Specific Denial: Korgran's axe does not talk.
- Token Heroic Orc: Adam, the Lowly's Team Pet, is a giant spider not unlike the ones that tried to kill Cole and his team in previous episodes, but shows no signs of malevolence or even just instinctive predator behaviour. Justified, since they've raised it since it was little.
