The 126 is tasked with helping everyone caught in the Tele-Lively building collapse; Owen grapples with a reignited existential crisis; TK makes a life decision.

Tropes:

  • Awesome by Analysis: During their hangout at the end of the episode, the 126 members figure out the occasion they’re celebrating one by one just from the fancy side dishes, and TK and Carlos’ tentative but excited demeanors.
  • Badass in Distress: Judd is this in the first half of the episode, needing the tech group’s help to carry him out. In the second half, Owen then gets buried under rubble in a series of secondary gas explosions until TK, Mateo and Paul find him.
  • Bloody Hallucinations of Guilt: Owen experiences three of these after he gets buried under rubble: one of Mendez, a security guard who was right beside Owen preceding the North Tower’s collapse; the deceased 252 members interspersed with the current 126 as he’s being transported into an ambulance; and one of Gwyn, who encourages him to keep going in his life and not blame himself for her death.
  • Catapult Nightmare: When TK coaxes Carlos awake, the latter jolts upright and briefly panics about an imminent fire or the return of Lou.
  • Continuity Nod:
  • Headbutt of Love: After Carlos accepts TK’s proposal, the two share this and a kiss before they settle back down in bed.
  • It's All My Fault: Wyatt tearfully tells Grace that he should never have failed his job interview, or Judd wouldn’t have went into the building and gotten injured.
  • Late to the Realization: Mateo is a few seconds behind the others in realizing what they’re celebrating, until they all outright reveal TK and Carlos’ engagement.
  • The Lost Lenore: Gwyn appears to Owen twice in the episode; once in a flashback to the immediate hours before 9/11, and another as he’s waking up in the hospital.
  • Recurring Extra: Captain Andrews and the 122 appear to assist Owen and the 126 with evacuating and rescuing the people trapped in the Tele-Lively’s wreckage.
  • The Simple Gesture Wins: Where TK attempted a “big swing” with a fancy restaurant and marriage proposal to make his prior relationship with Alex official, in this episode he initiates a late-night talk with Carlos and a speech about not taking their moments for granted.
  • Tempting Fate: TK invokes this as a reason why he hasn’t made his will.
