Recap / Nancy Drew S 2 E 5 The Drowned Woman

Go To

Tensions flare between Nancy and the Drew Crew as they continue to fight the Aglaeca. Meanwhile, Bess makes a mistake that could cause all of them their lives. Lastly, George has a beautiful bonding moment with her sisters.

Tropes:

  • Don't Celebrate Just Yet: They've taken out the Aglaeca! Destroyed her with her own deathtrap! Wait, we've got half the episode to go.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: In a tearful conversation with Carson, when he says "That kind of love never dies." (referring to his own for his daughter), Nancy finally realizes that Takes One to Kill One is the absolute wrong thing to do.
Nancy: The sand from the portents, it represents the trauma that Odette experienced in her death. By using it against her, it only reminded Odette why she became the Aglaeca in the first place. It only made her angrier and stronger.
Nick: So that's it, then, the Aglaeca can't be destroyed.
Nancy: Not with violence, but we can appeal to the human the monster once was.
  • A Handful for an Eye: This is essentially the plan. Odette shows up, gets sand in the face.
  • It Makes Sense in Context: "Don't make George be the octopus!"
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Not only does using the shroud on George revive her, it leaves her possessed by Odette's spirit. On top of that, breaking the shroud out of the archive released all the other vengeful magics locked within.
  • One-Woman Wail: Odette sings the truth of her death in eerie French.
  • Takes One to Kill One: The Crew decide to try and weaponize what they learned in the previous episode. They hunt down more portent sand, divide it among themselves, and hope to injure her one by one, maybe taking her out.
