Tropes

• "Could Have Avoided This!" Plot: Pipp states she would have asked for help getting out of the pumpkin if Zipp hadn't made fun of her for always asking for help in the first place, to Zipp's dismay.
• Dark Horse Victory: Zig-zagged. Jazz and Rufus compete in a pie-eating competition, but Jazz's pie was the one Pipp is trapped in and she ended up losing the contest to Rufus because she along with every pony else were too busy running around in a panic, thinking Pipp was a zombie pie.
  Sunny: [dazed] I declare Rufus the winner of Maretime Bay's first, and last, pie-eating competition! [faints]
  Jazz: Huh? No fair! My pie escaped!
• Failed a Spot Check: Hitch didn't bother to check the pumpkin carriage to see if Pipp was still inside before he had Sparky change it back into pumpkin. And while running from the Zom-Pie (Pipp), he doesn't notice that he's running on a treadmill until Zipp points it out.
• Idiot Ball:
  • Played for Laughs. All the ponies, including the Mane Five, didn't even noticed that Pipp was missing let alone trapped inside the pumpkin pie. And they all immediately thought she was a Zom-Pie after she calls out and pops her legs out of the pie. Hitch didn't even recognize Pipp's voice.
    Pipp: Hitch, wait up!
    Hitch: The pie knows my name!
  • Subverted with Rufus, as he was too busy eating to notice.
  • Subverted with Izzy as well, since she was just standing around looking more confused than scared.
• Jerkass Realization: Zipp has this after Pipp says the reason she didn't ask for help was because Zipp remarked that she's always doing that.
• Only Sane Mare: Zipp. Although she looks startled when she first sees the "zom-pie", she immediately recognizes that it's actually Pipp.
• Shout-Out: The pumpkin carriage is nod to Cinderella.
