Fluttershy is hanging up another Teacher of the Month photo, which is her... again... for the sixteenth time in a row. Applejack and Rainbow Dash are quite curious as to how she keeps managing to get Teacher of the Month, and want her to spill her secret, but Fluttershy has no idea how it happens. As she explains, however, we see that it's just Fluttershy... being Fluttershy.
When her students complain about having to clean up after making birdhouses, she puts on music to make it a clean-up dance party! Teach her students about responsibility? Have them do that by taking care of baby animals! Field trip cancelled because of inclement weather? Time for games! After she explains it, she finally gives Applejack and Rainbow Dash an idea: a Student Appreciation Day party, which seems to go over well with the students. Fluttershy recommends to the students that the two of them be declared Teachers of the Month... only for it to backfire hilariously as the students overhear Applejack and Rainbow Dash thanking Fluttershy for the idea... which makes her get Teacher of the Month again.
Tropes:
- The Ace: Rainbow Dash and Applejack treat Fluttershy as this for being able to get Teacher of the Month every single month for sixteen months in a row.
- Bottle Episode: Fluttershy, Applejack, and Rainbow Dash are the only mane cast members involved in the short, and it's mainly taken up by various flashbacks that only involve Fluttershy. While the Young Six also make appearances, the only one to get their own line of dialogue is Smolder at the very end.
- The Cameo: While the Young Six appear in all of Fluttershy's classes, they don't figure into the plot at all, and the only one of them to get a speaking line is Smolder.
- Cool Teacher: Fluttershy is this to all of the students, managing to make otherwise unfun, boring activities into fun ones and managing to turn around many situations. This is the cause of her repeatedly getting Teacher of the Month.
- Drama Queen: Gallus seems to be particularly upset that the class can't go on a field trip, not only letting out a huge groan but flopping to the ground as well.
- Employee of the Month: Following Twilight Sparkle opening a school of friendship, one of the things she does is a teacher of the month where the students choose their favorite teacher. Both Applejack and Rainbow Dash seek to get their frame up for one month to a competitive degree. However, Fluttershy achieves the award every month without even trying as hard as either of them.
- Karma Houdini Warranty: Despite Applejack and Rainbow Dash's bickering endangering the students in "Non-Compete Clause", they still recommended them for Teacher of the Month. It's shown they still lost to Fluttershy, again, and for the next several months after that. Their sincere effort to earn Teacher of the Month inadvertently cause Fluttershy to win... Again.
- Running Gag: Every single time Fluttershy gets her picture taken for Teacher of the Month, she's always surprised and always has the exact same expression.
- Yank the Dog's Chain: Applejack and Rainbow Dash finally have a chance to win Teacher of the Month for throwing the students an appreciation party... but as they thank Fluttershy for the idea, they're overheard by Smolder, which causes Fluttershy to get the award instead.
