Come and party with us, ponies. Forever, and ever, and ever.

Story by Jeremy Whitley, Art by Kate Sherron

When painfully shy Marble Pie tries to make friends at school, she ends up panicking and agreeing to throw a party instead! Good thing she's got a sister who's known for throwing just about the most amazing parties in all of Equestria-wait, it's not supposed to be Maud!

Tropes:

  • A Day in the Limelight: This episode focuses on Marble Pie, and she needs help with a party she's throwing.
  • Added Alliterative Appeal: While talking about the "dangers" of baking, Pinkie mentions "a cake catastrophe", a "a croissant kerfuffle", "an egg tart explosion", and "pie peril" (the last of which she thinks would be a A Good Name for a Rock Band consisting of her and her sisters).
  • The Cavalry Arrives Late: Due to a rockslide on the train tracks, Pinkie is forced to head to the Pie family farm on hoof, and subsequently only arrives after Maud has saved Marble's party.
  • Cool Shades: Maud and Boulder don these when Maud prepares to decipher the ink-smeared party list Pinkie gave her.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Pinkie bakes a cake with a ridiculous amount of layers for Cranky and Matilda's anniversary. But as Maud points out, the cake is too unstable, and it ends up collapsing. The second one she makes is so big, it can't actually go through the door at Sugarcube Corner (something Mrs. Cake points out to herself).
  • Heroic RRoD:
    • Due to spending all night deciphering Pinkie's list, Maud is exhausted the next day, and finds herself on the verge of falling asleep several times (though she manages to fix this by eating several "Sugar Tubes").
    • At the end of the story, Pinkie is so exhausted by running all the way to the farm that she falls asleep alongide Maud (the effect of the Sugar Tubes having finally worn off).
  • Never Trust a Trailer: The synopsis states "Marble Pie tries to make friends at school" but doesn't take place in nor mentions school. This is probably for the best as it would be a Continuity Snarl for Marble, who's minutes younger than Pinkie, to still be in school while Pinkie isn't.
  • Ocular Gushers:
    • Marble invokes this three times over as a result of the stress of handling her party.
    • Pinkie ivokes the happy variant after Maud mentions that she thought like her to organize Marble's party, and that she would put herself out of her comfort zone to make her sister happy.
  • Once More, with Clarity: Pinkie recalls how Maud planned her fifth birthday party, and it was the "best" she'd ever had. Maud points out that the "guests" at the party were her various rock friends, and that Pinkie just thinks it was the best because she is excited at everything Maud does for her.
  • Shout-Out: The B cover is a reference to The Shining, with Maud and Marble as the Creepy Twins, and Pinkie as Danny Torrence.
  • Suddenly Voiced: After being limited to saying "Mm-hmm." in the show, Marble is shown speaking in this issue.
  • Understatement: Maud remarks that the ink smearing on Pinkie's list for Marble's party is "inconvenient".
  • What Would X Do?: With Pinkie unavailable, Maud decides to organize Marble's party by considering how Pinkie would do it. To help get into this mindset, she eats several extremely sugary candy sticks, which gives her a sugar rush, and styles her mane like Pinkie's.
