"Golden Tips Imperial" is the twentieth episode of My Hero Academia's fourth season, and the 83rd episode overall.

Class 1-A's rehearsal is interrupted by Mirio, who has brought Eri along with him. The school has conditionally allowed Eri to participate in the festival, so Midoriya and Mirio tour her around U.A., where preparations for the school festival are in full swing. Hatsume and the rest of the Support class are hard at work building contraptions to showcase, while Tamaki and Yuyu help Nejire prep for the beauty pageant. At lunch, Midnight and Nezu wish them luck; the latter remembers that the police had asked him to cancel the festival.

A week later, Ashido and Kirishima ask Midoriya to switch from the dance team to the effects team, since they need someone to haul Aoyama (who is acting as a disco ball) across the room from a ceiling beam. Midoriya is disappointed since he had told Eri he would be dancing, but agrees as long as he can dance at some point.

During training with All Might, Midoriya runs into Hatsume, who promises him that she is working on the gadget he had asked for. All Might cautions him not to rely on items so much. Later that night, Midoriya chances on one of Gentle's videos...

This episode contains examples of:

  • Absurdly Youthful Father: Played for Laughs; other characters playfully accuse the teenage Mirio of being Eri's father.
  • Badass Back: Despite his weakened form, All Might catches the winged ball Hatsume is chasing around without looking or knowing it was coming.
  • Buxom Beauty Standard: Midoriya can't help but blush at Nejire's...assets when they are shoved in front of him thanks to her low-cut top.
  • Cover Innocent Eyes and Ears: As Monoma gets a little too intense about the one-sided rivalry with Class 1-A and is knocked unconscious by a classmate, Izuku turns Eri away and shields her eyes.
  • Instant Expert:
    • All Might admits that he essentially had no trouble using One For All at maximum strength, but he wound up generally unable to use support items to fight at longer range because his power was too massive to contain.
    • Downplayed with Kaminari - under Jiro's tutelage he apparently took to playing guitar very well in a matter of weeks.
  • No OSHA Compliance: Downplayed, but no one in the Support Class Workshop is wearing any kind of ear protection, and there appears to be a general lack of safety equipment and procedures for a workshop where people do welding.
  • On One Condition: Midoriya learns from Midnight and Nezu that, thanks to frequent attacks from the League of Villains, they will need to ramp up security to ensure nothing happens to further threaten UA's safety and disrupt the festival. Otherwise, they will be forced to shut it down, even if it's a false alarm. The Safety Commission wanted to initially cancel the Festival altogether, but Nezu asks to let it continue with this trope in mind.
  • Shout-Out: Hatsume's winged "baby" which she chases around U.A.'s forests is a winged ball suspiciously similar to the Golden Snitch from Harry Potter.
  • Title Drop: "Golden Tips Imperial" refers to a special tea which Yaoyorozu serves the others, and which Gentle wants to get from a little cafe.
