"Now, it's your turn."

"One For All" is the eleventh episode of My Hero Academia's third season, and the 49th episode overall.

All Might's battle with All For One has caused a mass evacuation of the surrounding area. All For One taunts All Might with the death of his mentor and predecessor, Nana Shimura, to whom All Might declared his intention to become the Symbol of Peace. All Might progressively loses power throughout the fight until his real form is revealed to the public. All For One further taunts him with the revelation that Shigaraki is Shimura's grandson. Endeavor, Edge Shot, Kamui Woods, and Tiger arrive to assist. Although they don't last long against All For One, this, combined with the thought of Midoriya and the memory of Shimura's teachings, encourage All Might to muster up one last punch to knock out All For One. Later, as the other heroes help out with the damages, All Might defiantly points at the camera and tells the audience "Now, it's your turn". To the general public, this is All Might's warning to villains that their days are numbered. To Midoriya, however, the message is much more personal: a declaration that the young boy would take up All Might's mantle as the symbol of peace!

Tropes present in this episode:

  • Double Meaning: The words " Now, it's your turn".
    • To everyone else, it's a warning to all villains.
    • To Midoriya, it's a message from All Might himself: That his time is over and his student must now take up the mantle of "Symbol of Peace".
      • This is also from All For One to Shigaraki: The villain is defeated and his protege must now take up the role as the official leader of the League of Villains.
  • Finishing Move: All Might uses the last of his One For All to deliver an epic punch called "United States of Smash" to finally defeat All For One.
  • Gratuitous English: "ENOUGH!" and "UNITED STATES OF SMASH" from All Might.
  • Heroic BSoD: All Might enters one when All For One reveals that Shigaraki is really Tenko Shimura, the grandson of All Might's mentor, Nana Shimura.
  • Heroic Second Wind: After suffering from his Heroic BSoD All Might is brought back from the brink of despair when he hears a woman he protected crying out not to lose and then realizes that everyone watching this fight is depending on him to win. This gives All Might the resolve to power on and lay the villain out.
  • Human Shield: All For One uses Gran Torino to block a punch from All Might.
  • Ironic Echo: Much like he how he passed One For All to Midoriya, All Might's words of "Now, it's your turn" means that he must now entrust his successor to become the new Symbol of Peace. On the villain's side, All For One mocks All Might on how Shigaraki has already left the nest and is independent, while his student is still relying on him.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: All Might has this reaction after All For One tells him that he has been unknowingly attacking the grandson of his beloved mentor Nana Shimura. Bonus points for him ever going "my god" in the dub.
  • Victory Pose: After punching out All For One, All Might raises his fist and transforms into his muscled form one last time. This evokes great emotion in the in-universe viewers, who copy the motion and chant his name.
  • Wham Line:
    • All For One delivers a devastating one to All Might after he states that the villain will never sway his heart from being the Symbol of Peace:
All For One: Then perhaps this will not hinder your heart at all either; you know, Tomura Shigaraki is Nana Shimura's grandson!
    • All Might delivers these three lines in the end.
    All Might:
    Good Bye, All For One!
    [...]
    Good Bye, One For All.
    [...]
    Now, it's your turn.
  • Would You Like to Hear How They Died?: All For One claims Nana Shimura died an Undignified Death, then asks, "Where should I start?"
