The police refuse to believe Jessica when she is mistaken for a government informant and kidnapped by the town's most respected citizen.
Tropes:
- Accidental Kidnapping: Because the airline employee incorrectly put Jessica's ticket in the wrong folder, then called her by that other person's name, Jessica was mistaken for the target of the kidnappers and was abducted.
- Blatant Lies: When accused by Jessica of abducting her and making up some flimsy excuse for the mixup, Max Hagen flatly denies to the Police and Jessica and either accuses Jessica of making it all up or mistaking him for someone else.
- Feed the Mole: How Jessica flushes out the titular Mole (and killer) in Max Hagen's organization.
- Obstructive Bureaucrat: Louis Paloma.
- Surrounded by Idiots: To a catastrophic degree - Max Hagen's entire operation falls apart because his minions are too stupid to double check if the person they're abducting is the one they've actually been told to grab. One of them even offers to kill Jessica to silence her, even though she's an extremely well known celebrity who is publicly making a complaint against him. Jessica then, naturally, refuses to let the incident go, which eventually results in him being exposed and arrested, when had the screw up not happened (or even had his goons done nothing, given that the murderer would've done their job for them anyway) he would've gotten away clean with no one the wiser.
- A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing: Max Hagen, referred to by the media as "a Saint", is actually a Jerkass to his employees, tries to bribe Jessica, and resort to shady dealings and kidnapping.
