Go To

Beaker 2.0 is an episode from Season 2 of Muppet Babies (2018).

Bunsen feels lonely without Beaker around, so he builds a robot version of him dubbed Beaker 2.0. What Could Possibly Go Wrong??

Tropes:

  • An Aesop: A Best Friend is irreplacable.
  • Chekhov's Gag: Early in this episode, Beaker gets trapped in a gift box by the Gift-O-Matic when he stands too close to it while activating it. Near the end of the episode, this is how he and Bunsen trap Beaker 2.0 when he takes over Muppet Labs.
  • Mythology Gag: Beaker 2.0 is introduced with his eyes glowing. In several other pieces of Muppet media (ex. The Great Muppet Caper), the adult Beaker displayed the ability to light his eyes up.
  • Retraux: "A Beautiful Friendship" is styled after music videos from The '80s.
  • Robot Me: In this episode, Bunsen invents Beaker 2.0 to take the real Beaker's place while the latter gets a haircut. At first, Bunsen enjoys working with Beaker 2.0, but Beaker 2.0 soon turns against him to work on new inventions by himself, and Bunsen needs the real Beaker's help to stop him. In the end, Bunsen invents Bunsen 2.0, a robotic duplicate of himself to be Beaker 2.0's new lab partner.
  • Turned Against Their Masters: Beaker 2.0 takes over Muppet Labs and kicks Bunsen out when he wants to work on inventions by himself. As a result, Bunsen needs the real Beaker's help to stop him.
  • Verbal Tic: Played with; since he's a robot version of Beaker, Beaker 2.0 says "Beep" instead of "Meep".
  • Wide Eyes and Shrunken Irises: Beaker's pupils shrink down tiny when he walks in on Bunsen declaring Beaker 2.0 the best lab partner he's ever had.
