Recap / Moon MMBCS 2

Go To

The Moon MMBC Season 2, or alternatively the Moon-Blackberry MMBC, is a Murder Mystery Bachelorette Challenge run by mercurypixels, and a direct follow-up to the previously successful Moon MMBC one generation before. It can be read from the beginning here.

Gossamer and her winner have since sired five children on the island they have been trapped on, and started a small family commune. Though they hoped to get away from the bloodstained origins of their union, the disembodied voice forces the issue by demanding that the eldest, Edelweiss Moon, continue the tradition and star in a bachelorette challenge of her own, bringing second-youngest sibling Angel for backup. Edelweiss is excited for the task, having not gotten the gory details... but the adrenaline fades to be replaced with fear when she realises: someone else in the ranks is just as ready for Round Two.

  3. Esmerelda Cabouchon - choking on a jellybean
  4. Genevieve Sia Syracuse - drowning
  5. Madison Blizzard-Erkens - buried in a Box of Danger
  6. Mai Adams - transmutation
  7. Whisper Wave - dehydration
  8. Atlantic Storm Shark and Sky Celestial - fire
  9. Canary Lemongrass - eaten by a cowplant
  10. Scarlet Tides - falling from a balcony
  11. Hortense Teaflower, murderer - shot by a distant invisible gun
  12. Poinciana 'Ana' Royale - stabbed, but she got better
  13. Anemone Shell, winner

This MMBC provides examples of:

  • It's Personal / You Killed My Par: Madison's rationale for entering the project, since her biological not-mother was killed in the previous run. She holds the whole Moon family personally responsible for this.
  • Orphaned Series: The original intent with the Moon series was for it to carry on for the five generations the Midnight Sun challenge attached to it requires... however, the author has been MIA for months, so a third generation of murders is unlikely.
  • Our Mermaids Are Different: Exaggerated. There are four mermaids taking part... and since they're all made by different people, the lore between all four of them is inconsistent. Whisper Wave's caste displays the most marked contrast, being forced to live on land while the other three either reside there voluntarily or still have regular contact with the sea, which causes friction with Anemone Shell in particular.
  • The Runner-Up Takes It All: While Ana Royale technically had a higher relationship with Edelweiss than Anemone, the fact that she was rolled for the penultimate 'death' (despite surviving) means that she was relegated to the position of Angel's partner, while Edelweiss ended up with Anemone. Edie, inexplicably, has no hard feelings over this.
  • The Topic of Cancer: Sky's childhood leukemia, thought in remission, is said to be resurfacing while the MMBC is in progress - only Atlantic is told this, and she reacts by distancing herself, as she has lost a loved one in a similar way before. Naturally, the two then die together.
