Title: Untitled

Original Airdate: 21/12/1969

Guest starring: Barry Cryer, Carolae Donoghue, Ian Davidson

It's: A walk-on, a bank robber at a lingerie shop, an entertainment talk show starring inanimate objects, a vocational guidance counselor ("Vocational Guidance Counselor"), Ron Obvious trying to break a record, a pet shop owner offering to make a terrier into a parrot ("Pet Conversions"), a gorilla interviewing for a librarian job ("Gorilla Librarian"), letters to the editor, and a wife being visited by her multiple lovers in the middle of the night right next to her sleeping husband.

Tropes:

  • Bandage Mummy: Ron Obvious gets progressively more mangled through his various death-defying stunts until he's wearing a full body cast while attempting to run to Mercury. The next shot has his manager at Ron's grave.
  • Bedroom Adultery Scene: "Strangers in the Night"
  • Brutal Honesty: When Mr. Anchovy the accountant says that he doesn't want to be an accountant anymore because accounting is dull, the Vocational Guidance Counsellor says that the job fits him.
"Well, er, yes Mr Anchovy, but you see your report here says that you are an extremely dull person. You see, our experts describe you as an appallingly dull fellow, unimaginative, timid, lacking in initiative, spineless, easily dominated, no sense of humour, tedious company and irrepressibly drab and awful. And whereas in most professions these would be considerable drawbacks, in chartered accountancy they are a positive boon."
  • Call-Back: "Time enough now for a piece of wood."... "The Larch..."
  • Digging to China: One of the stunts Luigi Vercotti has Ron Obvious perform is tunneling to Java.
  • Hates Small Talk: "Vocational Guidance Counsellor" sketch has this exchange between Palin and Cleese (no prizes for guessing who plays what):
Counsellor: Ah, Mr Anchovy! Do sit down.
Mr Anchovy: Thank you. Take the weight off the feet, eh? Lovely weather for the time of year I must say!
Counsellor: Enough of this gay banter.
  • Lampshade Hanging: After the reveal of the "punchline" in the Strangers in the Night sketch, various animals appear on screen to call out the predictability of the line, eating each other between comments.
  • Poor Man's Porn: The TV host is reading a men's fitness magazine called "Physique" when the camera cuts back to him.
  • Screams Like a Little Girl: Mr. Anchovy screams when the Vocational Guidance Counsellor shows him a picture of a roaring lion.
    • Ron Obvious does it three times: when he breaks his teeth while trying to eat the entire Chichester Cathedral, when he is injured by a train, and when he falls down to his death.
  • Strongly Worded Letter: After the "Gorilla Librarian" sketch, some letters are shown written to the Daily Mirror (referred to here as the Mirror View), including one from American President R. M. Nixon.
  • "Untitled" Title: The A&E video release lists Episode 10 as "Untitled".
