Go To

Air date: August 19, 2019

New Nivagi: Grandpa Nat entrusts Molly with his secret, prize-winning nivagi recipe while he's away.

"New Nivagi" contains the following tropes:

  • I Can't Hear You: Tooey mishears the word "barter" as "barber" due to the loud noise of Kenji's motorboat.
  • Non-Indicative Name: Molly explains on her vlog that she's making nivagi and calls it Alaska Native ice cream—and then goes on to explain that nivagi is neither iced nor made with cream. It is instead made out of chilled moose fat and fruit.
  • Shout-Out: Molly's "Athabascan Chef" persona has her attempting to mimic Julia Child's distinctive voice.
  • Work Off the Debt: Molly and Tooey agree to clean Mr. Rowley's glass figurines in exchange for moose meat and fat.

Crane Song: Molly and Walter help Nina and Dr. Antigone band baby sandhill cranes.

"Crane Song" contains the following tropes:

  • Air Guitar: Nina takes a bit of artistic license with the crane dance.
  • Hot Drink Cure: Walter offers Dr. Antigone some Labrador tea to treat her cold. It works wonders.
  • Meaningful Name: Dr. Antigone Howell. Antigone is the genus name of the sandhill crane (A. canadensis).
  • Nobody Here but Us Birds: To catch a colt (baby crane), Molly and the others have to wear gray suits, carry staffs shaped like adult cranes, and imitate the cranes' dances and calls.
  • So Unfunny, It's Funny: Walter is on a dad joke roll.
  • Title Drop: Nina does this at the end of the episode.
  • Working Through the Cold: Dr. Antigone isn't going to let a few sniffles stay her from her appointed rounds.
