Lila schemes to make Kagami lose faith in Marinette as a friend. In the meantime, Marinette's other friends come up with a variety of schemes to get her and Adrien to confess their love for each other.

Tropes:

  • Anti-Villain: While her appearance causes panic, Ryukomuri is mostly uninterested and even incapable of causing any harm since she can't touch anything or see anyone. She only uses her powers to drive annoyances away from her, such as zapping a helicopter flying around her head.
  • Blind Weaponmaster: Tomoe very clearly indicates that her fencing ability is no Informed Attribute by bursting into a room and pinning Gabriel's left hand against a screen with her shinai.
  • Borrowed Catchphrase: Marinette imagines Kagami saying Chloé's signature "Ridiculous, utterly ridiculous!" to her if she returned Kagami's call only to admit she still Cannot Spit It Out to Adrien.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: Marinette just can't manage to say "I love you" to Adrien, even though he already knows she loves him and she knows he loves her. It elaborates on the degree she suffers from this by having her being just unable to finish off the sentence "I love you" while practicing in front of a picture of Adrien, causing her to going red in the face from straining to say "you" for multiple hours until it reaches around eight in the evening. She then attempts to bypass her limitation by printing out a picture of a cow so she can instead say "I love moo". Marinette's part in the episode ends with her having an epiphany that she can't manage to talk to Adrien because she doesn't feel good enough for him.
  • Casual Danger Dialogue: Ladybug and Cat Noir openly gush about their new crushes while going about their hero duties at the start of the episode.
  • Cumulonemesis: Ryukomuri is completely made out of clouds.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: Gabriel's offer to Kagami can come across like he's motivating her to commit suicide, with him describing himself as also wanting "to end [her] suffering" and giving her the "power" to not see, hear, or be touched by anyone. When she goes to her school, she claims she has the calm and perfection she longed for as her body starts to dissipate.
  • Double-Meaning Title: Kagami is focused on being the perfect friend, and, when she's akumatized, she’s given the power of Perfection.
  • Do Wrong, Right: Lila drags Chloé away from her attempt to get between Adrien and Marinette, because if she wants to ruin Marinette's life, they need to do it with enough subtlety that no one will notice and try to stop them.
  • Dramatic Irony: The episode begins with Ladybug and Cat Noir talking about their feelings for their respective love interests, ignorant of the fact that they're actually talking about each other.
  • Epic Fail: Marinette somehow manages to screw up sitting on a mat. All we see is the mat being flung onto Alya as Marinette apologizes for being clumsy again.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Tomoe can excuse working with Paris's Number One Terrorist and using her technology to support his wicked deeds, but she draws the line at putting her daughter in danger.
  • Failure Montage: The Friend Squad go through a variety of plots to help Adrien and Marinette confess their feelings through mundane activities. Each one fails spectacularly because of Marinette's klutzy nature and usual hesistancy.
  • False Friend: Lila manipulates Kagami into believing that Marinette doesn't actually consider her a friend.
  • Giant Woman: Aside from being made from clouds, Ryukomuri is a basically giant version of Kagami.
  • Hollywood Tone-Deaf: Nino manages to do fine as a backup singer, but pitches his slow "aah" much too high, earning a silent reprimand from Zoé.
  • Horrible Judge of Character: Kagami takes Lila's offer to be her best friend after regaining her confidence, even though Lila is responsible for her akumatization to begin with.
  • Impeded Communication: Monarch makes Ryukomuri completely unable to see or hear other people, only solid objects. Ladybug and Cat Noir's main challenge in the battle is finding a way to get a message to her. It also works against Ryukomuri, as she can only discern where the heroes are through their effects on the environment around them.
  • Literal-Minded: Kim thinks Adrien's serenade requires a dolphin, simply because the lyrics contain the word "dolphin". He ends up running past the band with a inflatable dolphin as he shouts out "dolphin" as a refrain during Adrien's song.
  • Mama Bear: Tomoe attacks Gabriel after finding out he akumatized Kagami. Interestingly, she is specifically furious about the fact that he sent the Megakuma into her ring.
  • New Friend Envy: Sabrina is clearly sad after Chloé says that Lila is now her best friend. In contrast, Marinette tells Kagami that additional friendships don’t divide love, they multiply it.
  • Nigh-Invulnerability: As a living cloud, Ryukomuri simply passes through everything, parts of her dissipating and reforming when she walks through larger objects. The heroes have no way of threatening her directly and have to find a way to talk her into rejecting the akumatization voluntarily.
  • Not Quite the Right Thing: While Marinette and friends get through to Kagami's heart and rekindle her drive for friendship with them, it also has the unfortunate side effect of having her accept Lila's offer of friendship as well and Lila certainly will attempt to use her in her schemes as a result.
  • Offhand Backhand: In the opening, Cat Noir catches Mr. Ramier on the end of his staff without even turning to look, having already anticipated where he would fall after being deakumatized.
  • Poor Communication Kills: Marinette avoids talking to Kagami because she thinks she'll be disappointed by her inability to confess her love to Adrien. Kagami, meanwhile, has been tricked by Lila into interpreting Marinette's avoidance as a sign she doesn't consider them friends, leading to her akumatization.
  • Pragmatic Villainy: Lila actually stops Chloé from harassing Marinette... because she was being far too obvious about it and Lila is trying to be a Villain with Good Publicity.
  • Removed from the Picture: Lila obsessively cuts Marinette's face out of a collection of photos of her with her friends.
  • Right Behind Me: Kagami walks up behind Alya right as she's talking about how much Adrien and Marinette love each other. Marinette tries to warn her, but it's too late.
  • See the Invisible: Variant when everyone is visible, it's Ryukomuri who can't see people. However, since her storm causes cars to fly in the air, she can determine where Ladybug and Cat Noir by the cars they destroy to protect themselves.
  • Serenade Your Lover: Adrien writes and performs a love song for Marinette. He sings it for her while Kitty Section plays the music and Nino, Max, and Zoé sing backup vocals. He even ends it up with an explicit "I love you."..but Marinette still can't say these words back to him.
  • Took a Level in Badass: During the opening montage, we see that Mr. Pigeon has returned, with the power to make his pigeons form a humanoid body for him to fight with.
  • You Are Not Alone: Along with Marinette confirming her friendship with Kagami, Alya and the others assure her that she has their friendships to count on too.
  • You Owe Me: Tomoe warns Gabriel that everything he's received was because of her, putting him in her eternal debt.

"I love MOO!"

Marinette just can't manage to say "I love you" to Adrien, even though he already knows she loves him and she knows he loves her. It elaborates on the degree she suffers from this by having her being just unable to finish off the sentence "I love you" while practicing in front of a picture of Adrien, causing her to going red in the face from straining to say "you" for multiple hours until it reaches around eight in the evening. How well does it match the trope?
