Tropes

  • Bewildering Punishment: Despite the fact they were in detention for something they didn't recall, with even Mr. Caplan not remembering why he sent them to detention, Bulk and Skull end up being forced to write lines at the end of the episode.
  • Cassandra Truth: Bulk and Skull try to tell Principal Caplan about Goldar, Photomare, Alpha 5, and the young Rangers trapped in a photo. But Mr. Caplan sent them to detention for lying. Justified, since this chronologically takes place before monsters commonly invaded Angel Grove.
  • Captain Obvious:
Skull: You don't happen to be a good guy, are you?
Goldar: Oh no, definitely a bad guy!
Skull: I was afraid of that!
  • Epic Fail: Photomare not immediately picking up the photograph which causes a random gust of wind to blow it towards Bulk and Skull. Really?
  • Mustache Vandalism: While stuck in detention, Young Bulk and Skull doodled some of these on the Powerless Kids. They end up transitioning on them for real when Alpha frees them from the photograph.
  • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: Despite Young Bulk and Skull protecting the photograph the Powerless Kids were trapped in, they're rewarded by being given detention for "lying", followed by being forced to write lines after time is restored.
  • No Sympathy: Even though Bulk and Skull protected the photograph they were trapped in and ended up in detention through no fault of their own, Rocky, Aisha, and Kimberly just laugh and quip when Caplan makes them write lines for no apparent reason.
  • Not So Above It All: Mr. Caplan, usually the ice-cold stern principal, jokingly considers charging Bulk and Skull rent because they spend so much time in detention.
  • Oh, Crap!: When young Bulk and Skull bump into Goldar.
  • Spanner in the Works: Besides Bulk and Skull, a random gust of wind blows the photo away from the monster towards the aforementioned duo.
  • Unlikely Hero: Bulk and Skull, especially as kids, end up stalling for enough time so Alpha can finish his device.
  • Unusually Uninteresting Sight: Immediately after Principal Caplan sends Bulk and Skull to detention for their "lying", Alpha teleports in right in front of him, looks around, says he's in the wrong place and teleports out. Principal Caplan just does a Double Take before shrugging and walking off.
  • Villain Ball:
    • Goldar demands that Bulk and Skull hand him the photo and ignores Zedd's demands to simply take it by force.
    • Not to mention, the wind gust that blew the trapped Rangers over to the bumbling duo when Photomare could've simply reached down and taken it.
