When Adam's karate student Shawn gets picked on by others in his class for being smaller, it brings back a flood of bad childhood memories for Adam, who recalls being treated the same way when he was young and trying to play soccer. This inspired Lord Zedd; while the others are forced to deal with his Skelerena monster, a hyena-esque skeleton who mocks their victims, he sends Goldar down with the Mirror Of Regret. Putties capture Adam, and he's forced to watch as his worst childhood memories are replayed before him. It's an attempt to crush his already wavering self-esteem, but will he overcome his insecurities?
Tropes:
- Adaptational Species Change: Garouki was a wolf-beast in Dairanger, but became the hyena-based Skelerena here in Power Rangers.
- Adaptational Villainy: Skelerena laughs at his victim's misfortunes, while Jin Matoba of Dairanger, while most definitely a villain, at least had a Noble Demon quality to him that wouldn't allow for any dirty tricks. His monster form was also Brainwashed and Crazy compared to the straight-up evil Skelerena.
- Adaptational Wimp: Due to (presumingly) not having the suit, Skelerena does not directly engage the rangers and is quickly obliterated with the new Power Cannon.
- Demoted to Extra: Skelerena's counterpart was the arch-rival of the red ranger of Dairanger, plus she had a human form. However, she is just a one-off monster here.
- Giggling Villain: Skelerena was made by Zedd with this in mind, wanting the beast to cruelly laugh at his victims.
- Mind Rape: The Mirror of Regret takes the worst moments in your life and makes you relive them.
- Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Goldar doesn't even try to fight Adam once he regains his confidence, vying to flee instead, much to Zedd's chagrin.
