Max, an ordinary 11-year-old, gets a magical cap in the mail and meets a pair of ancient warriors who tell him it's his destiny to save the world from the evil Skullmaster.
Tropes:
- Big "NO!": Skull Master makes one as his digging vehicle goes over the lava falls to his apparent demise.
- Gory Discretion Shot: Max finds Norman getting pummeled by rock monsters, and throws him his sword. Norman's then shown carving the rock monsters to pieces only in silhouette.
- No One Could Survive That!: Skull Master appears to fall to his death in a lake of lava as the heroes escape and the camera cuts away. He turns up again a few episodes later with a new plan to escape his captivity.
- Secret Room: There's a hidden temple under Max's house that he never knew about, hiding the portal to the center of the Earth.
