Go To

"Stayin' Cool" is one of the season 1 shorts of the new Mickey Mouse (2013) series created by Paul Rudish for the Disney Channel and Disney.com. It's the sixth to both air on the Disney Channel and to be put up on Disney.com.

On the hottest day of the year, Mickey, Donald and Goofy are driven out of the swimming pool in a mansion. Now they must find creative ways to beat the heat.

Tropes:

  • The Cameo: In the beginning of the short, there's a horse character that bears a striking resemblance to Horace Horsecollar.
  • Carnivore Confusion: The pig butcher is surrounded by hams, pork chops, and sausages.
  • Furry Confusion: The man who owns the pool Mickey, Donald, and Goofy use without his permission is a dog, yet he sics non-anthropomorphic dogs on the trio to get them to leave.
  • Furry Reminder: When the trio take shelter in a meat fridge, a butcher takes Donald and nearly chops him up.
  • Gone Horribly Right: The result of using the plane's propeller to cool off.
  • Heat Wave: The episode takes place on the hottest day of the year, with the trio trying to stay cool.
  • Hydrant Geyser: The ice cream truck Mickey, Donald, & Goofy cool off in lands on a fire hydrant after flying off a hill. The hydrant ruptures, quickly filling the truck with water before a geyser bursts out the top (blowing off the cone decoration on the roof & lowering the temperature outside in the process).
  • I'm Melting!: Goofy, though he doesn't say it.
  • Musical Nod: The tune Mickey whistles in Steamboat Willie plays in the background at certain points.
  • Stock Scream: The classic Goofy Holler can be heard when the ice cream truck goes flying.
  • Stripped to the Bone: Mickey uses a plane's propeller to keep them cool, but it works too well as it blows off their clothes, fur (feathers in Donald's case) and skin.
  • Ungrateful Bastard: After causing it to snow and cooling everybody off, Donald complains, "I'm freezing!"
  • Who Is Driving?: Asked by Mickey after the ice cream truck takes a hard bend and makes the trio realize what's going on. And naturally, it does crash.
