When the Sheriff’s Department’s sofa is split in two, Mao Mao orders another sofa. The Sky Pirates hear this, and thus they plan to sneak into the Sheriff’s Department and take them down once and for all. If that wasn’t making things complicated, the three sheriffs are in the midst of an argument and thus reside in separate rooms; Mao Mao stays in the living room to guard the new sofa, Badgerclops takes the kitchen to eat the dipping sauces, and Adorabat uses the dojo to do her art. On the night the Sky Pirates make their move, they eventually decide to stay in the Sheriff’s Department, and things escalate further.
- Chekhov's Gun: In the beginning, Adorabat's paints short out Badgerclops' cyborg arm. This later gives Mao Mao the idea to do the same with the mecha couch to stop the Sky Pirates.
- Feud Episode: Mao Mao, Badgerclops and Adorabat each argue about how they leave things around the headquarters — Mao Mao keeps weapons between the seat cushions, Badgerclops keeps a mountain of dipping sauces in the kitchen, and Adorabat spills her paints everywhere. The argument comes to a head just as the Sky Pirates reveal themselves and attack them with their own couch, and have to agree to compromise so they can defeat them.
- I Call It "Vera": Badgerclops had named the old couch Sophia, while Mao Mao named the new couch Tony.
- Take That!: Adorabat screams when Boss Hostrich offers to pay for her artwork with "exposure", a commentary on those who hire artists (animators in particular) for little or no money with the promise of making their work public.
- This Is My Side: After their argument, each member of the Sheriff's Department takes over a room of the headquarters, forbidding the others from going there.
- Transforming Mecha: The couch can transform into a walking tank to defend the headquarters.
- Trash of the Titans: Badgerclops has amassed a whole lot of junk (he calls it "valuable salvage"), which Mao Mao wants him to throw away. He even has a pile of take-out dipping sauces taking over the kitchen table. In the climax, all the junk falls on top of him
- Trojan Horse: The Sky Pirates hide inside the new couch with the intent of ambushing the Sheriff's Department in the night. But then they see how nice their headquarters are and decide to stay in the couch during the day and enjoy the amenities at night.
- Female Gaze: At some point, Mao Mao sticks his butt out.
