Mao Mao is perturbed when a Sweetypie in Pure Heart Valley named Ol' Blue does not find Mao Mao's abilities impressive. Mao Mao finds himself desperately trying to get some kind of validation from the mopey resident, unaware of the fact that his feelings are psychologically linked to his own father issues.
Tropes:
- Chekhov's Skill: At one point, Badgerclops mentions that Ol' Blue is the Valley's therapist. Guess where Mao Mao ends up in after the below mentioned Freudian Slip?
- Freudian Excuse: Mao Mao’s need to impress everyone due to his father never being proud of him is brought to the forefront in this episode.
- Freudian Slip: Mao Mao calls Blue "Daddy", right out in public. Echoing for further emphasis.
- Gory Discretion Shot: Mao Mao decapitating the Impressaur is shown as this, with one Sweetypie being disturbed by it.
- My Car Hates Me: Ol' Blue's car has trouble starting when he's trying to get away from Mao Mao.
- No Antagonist: Downplayed. The episode does have a Monster of the Week with the Impressaur, but it’s only at the very beginning and it gets defeated quickly.
- Somebody Doesn't Love Raymond: Ol' Blue is not impressed by Mao Mao's heroics, which greatly upsets Mao Mao due to never getting his father's respect.
- Stalker without a Crush: Mao Mao's desperation to impress Ol' Blue quickly goes into stalking territory.
- "Well Done, Son" Guy: Mao Mao has always wanted to please his father, but he never got any recognition from him.
