Recap / Luminous Witches Ep 8 "I Will Not Forget Those Days"

Go To

The Luminous Witches travel to Tokyo in Fuso so they can perform their next concert. However, Milasha experiences some misfortunes after she trades fortunes with Aira.

Tropes in this episode include:

  • Affectionate Gesture to the Head: Aira gives Milasha a head pat to calm the latter down seconds after she overshoots the formations during the witches's airshow rehearsal.
  • Answer Cut: Towards the end of the episode, Aira and Ellie wonder where Grace is at while the other witches are resting. Cue Grace and Ishida drinking sake and having fun at a local restaurant.
  • Beach Episode: In the episode's second half, Ellie and Milasha hold a race with their Striker Units on a nearby beach.
  • Call-Back: In "Gentle Light", Aira sings the episode's titular song by herself, before Ginny and Milasha join in at the end of the first verse. This time around, Milasha sings "I Will Not Forget Those Days" by herself, with Aira joining in seconds later.
  • The Cameo: Yoko Ishida, who sang the opening themes for Strike Witches and Brave Witches, makes a brief appearance as Lieutenant Ishida, who accompanies Grace on her debriefing for the Luminous Witches's performance.
  • Chekhov's Gun: In the second half of the episode, Inori discovers a broken record in Milasha's pouch. It turns out said broken record originated as an LP of Aira's album, Precious Memories, which Milasha frequently listened to when she was sad.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • As with the other World Witches installments, Fuso remains unaffected by the Neuroi's European invasion.
    • Like in Strike Witches, this episode has a brief segment where the witches go out on a local beach.
  • Flashback Echo: While Milasha sings "I Will Not Forget Those Days", there is a brief flashback to where she listens to the same song from Aira's Precious Memories on her phonograph.
  • Oh, Crap!: Milasha can only gasp in shock when, after winning against Ellie, she encounters a flock of seagulls and is about to fall into the ocean. The other witches on the beach also share this reaction.
  • Superstition Episode: In this episode, Aira and Milasha receive good and bad luck fortunes, respectively, while praying at a local Fusoan shrine. After trading with Aira, Milasha begins to regret her decisions. Then, Milasha overshoots her air formation, has some issues with her chores, and she eventually gets stung by a jellyfish after winning a contest against Ellie. Milasha gets better by the end of the episode.
  • Talent Double: Inori's koto performance for the episode's titular song was performed by Ginny's voice actress Mai Narumi.
